Park in the car park opposite Damvant church (bus stop). Damvant is situated just after the French-Swiss border and Villars-les-Blamont.
(S/E) Follow a small road heading due south, passing the village hall on your right.
(1) At the wayside cross, carry on straight ahead along the road, past a football pitch. When the road bends to the left, leave it and carry on straight ahead along a footpath. rejoin the road and follow it as it continues (south-west).
(2) When the road bends sharply to the right (at a cross), leave it and continue roughly straight ahead (south) along the path furthest to the left. At the first Fork in the road that appears immediately, take the middle path (the one furthest to the left, not shown on SwissTopo, leads to a meadow). Descend into the forest.
(3) At a junction with a path marked with a Yellow Rectangle and a Blue Rectangle, turn left and climb some steps through a rocky section. Then turn right and follow the ridge towards the east-southeast. Walk alongside the prehistoric park situated below on the left. You’ll come out onto a road; follow it to the left to reach an intersection immediately.
(4) Then turn right.
(5) At the junction, take the path slightly to the left. Further on, you’ll come out onto another path; follow it to the right and you’ll immediately reach a junction.
(6) Turn left towards La Roche d’Or. Head uphill through the woods.
(7) You’ll come out onto a road; follow it to the left for about a hundred metres.
(8) Take a signposted path on the right and soon turn left along it. A little further on, rejoin the road you left earlier and follow it to the right.
(9) You’ll soon come out onto another road; follow it to the right. Carry straight on and pass through the village of Roche d’Or.
(10) At the last house (cross), keep to the right and ignore a turn-off to the left. Head uphill, taking a right-hand bend followed by a left-hand bend. Then ignore a turn-off to the right.
(11) At the next junction, turn right onto a signposted path and head uphill. Further on, turn right to climb across a meadow to the Faux d’Enson tower (which you can climb).
(12) Descend from the tower, then cross the pasture heading due south to the low wall at the edge of the woodland. Follow the unmarked but well-trodden path on the right. Take a footpath for walkers at the end of the pasture and follow the unmarked path through the woodland. Join the border ridge.
(13) Follow the ridge path westwards alongside the boundary markers (take care on a few exposed sections).
(14) When fallen trees across the path block the way, follow a well-marked track to the left and you’ll soon reach an unmarked path leading downhill. Continue straight on, ignoring the various paths to the right or left.
(15) At a junction, turn right onto a path marked with yellow and blue rectangles, heading towards La Vaux farm. Walk northwards to the farm.
(16) At the farm, turn left below the garden, following the signposted path towards Montavon Farm. Take the hairpin bend to the left.
(17) At a Fork in the road, veer to the left. You will arrive at Montavon Farm.
(18) Then follow the farm access road westwards until you reach a junction you passed earlier in the walk.
(5) Continue straight on.
(4) At the T-junction, turn right and walk alongside the car parks.
(19) After about 200 m, turn left at the corner of the last building. After about 75 m, turn right. Walk through the woodland and then across open ground. You’ll reach a junction you passed at the very start of the walk (wayside cross).
(1) Turn right and you’ll soon be back at the car park where you started (S/E).
