Start at Place du Lac, Nantua. Yellow markings.
From the square, walk along the lake towards Montréal-La Cluse for 1.5km, parallel to the D1084, as far as the Belle-Rive restaurant.
(1) Cross the D1084 and climb the winding path. At the top of the hill, take a forest track on the right for 10 minutes. This path curves round to the left and comes to an intersection.
(2). Turn right and after 50m, right again.
(3) Approximately 500m further on, turn right onto a path that runs alongside the cliff and leads to the Fècles lookout.
(4) Enjoy the panoramic view of the lake and the town of Nantua.
Ignore a track on the left and continue straight on to a place called La Colonne.
(5) Turn left, go through the fir grove and down the forest track to the ferme de la Tour.
(6) Take the small road on the right as far as the junction with the D74.
(7) Cross the road, enter a plantation and reach a hunting hut.
(8) Take the forest track on the left as far as the Montoux farm.
(9) At the fork in front of the farm, turn left, pass under a high-voltage power line and continue along this path, leaving two footpaths on your left. You will come to an intersection.
(10) Go up to the left and reach Font de Sème (919m - panorama). At the end of the crossing, descend to the right at the bottom of the small valley, climb up the opposite side and pass through a pine forest. You will come to a fork.
(11) Go down to the left along a wide forest track, ignoring the paths that branch off to the left and right and climb to the Roche Merveilleuse (892m - panorama).
(12) Go down to the right, then left along the forest track. At a platform, continue on the same track, which winds down to the D74 road.
(13) Cross the road. Go down the opposite slope, past the reservoir on your left and reach an intersection.
(14) Turn left onto the sentier des Gardes and continue for 200m.
(15) At a hairpin bend, turn left down a path that leads to Nantua near Place Xavier Bichat.
Take the road on the right as far as the lake, then cross the D1084 to get back to the starting point (S/E).
