The start and finish are in the village of Saint-Léger-les-Mélèzes. Park in the car park at the top of the village at the foot of the ski slopes.
(S/E) Cross the road (D13), follow it to the right, then take the Route des Arnauds (westbound) to leave the village.
(1) At the crossroads of four roads, take Chemin de l'Adroit opposite, walk along a housing estate on your left and continue along this street, which will turn into a path and gradually descend the Champsaur valley through the woods. About 70 metres after passing under a power line, take a path on the right.
(2) At the next fork, stop descending and take the path on the left (Sentier du Pont Blanc) which runs alongside the canal and continues on level ground through the forest for about 1.2 km. Ignore the paths on the right and left.
(3) At this intersection, change direction: take a path on the left and towards the back (Direction Champ de Moise) which climbs for 150 metres
(4) New intersection: take the path on the right (the path on the left is not shown on the map), cross the D514 road further on (be careful! Cars drive fast at this point) and continue straight ahead.
(5) Intersection with another path. Discover the view over the valley, which has a slightly Spanish canyon feel to it, which is quite surprising in this region. Then descend via a fairly steep and inconspicuous path that starts behind the 'Champ de Moise' sign. On the way down, you will discover a hut built in the trees (see photos). Teenagers will enjoy climbing to the top (not recommended for children without parental supervision). From the hut, there is a lovely view of the aqueduct that crosses the Torrent d'wooden roof tile. Continue to the junction with a road.
(6) Do not take the small road, but instead take a pretty path on the left (towards Biaou du Forest) and head back into the forest, which will take you up the Torrent d'Wooden Roof Tile valley. The climb is easy and the walk along this path is very pleasant. You can hear the sound of the torrent below you the whole time. Pass under the power line again and continue. Further on, cross a bridge, veering to the right.
(7) About 100 metres further on, at the "Forest Garnier" signpost, ignore a path on the right and continue towards "Pont de la Saulce" between meadows (on the left) and woods (on the right), then through woods and finally between meadows, until you reach a road.
(8) Take the tarmac road on the left which climbs towards the hamlet of Saint-Hilaire. Reach the D514 and cross it. Turn left for a few metres and then immediately right towards the village.
(9) In the centre of Saint-Hilaire, there is a pretty fountain where you can take a break. Continue straight ahead uphill and follow the unpaved road that winds through the fields.
(10) At the three-way junction, turn left and continue to the next path on the right
(11) Take this path to the right, which initially descends into the woods. At the first fork, keep to the right. This path remains almost flat until the end. Walk along the housing estate on your left.
(1) Turn right and return to the car park via the same street as on the way there (S/E).
