The starting point is at the presbytery car park, which can be reached by passing to the right and behind the church. There you will find a sign showing the four walks in the Bois de Thise. The three Blue, Red and Black routes share a section of a few kilometres. The Sentier du Rufille is marked in black on a white background with a small house in addition to the conventional markings.
(S/E) Go down Rue du Presbytère and turn right to go up Rue du Paret, which is tarmac at the start and then becomes a white path called Chemin Ferré. Go through two hairpin bends and you will reach a fork in the road.
(1) Leave Chemin Ferré, turn left and then immediately take Chemin du Facteur opposite.
(2) Leave this path and follow the marked path to the right.
(3) Continue straight ahead following the red and black markings: the blue "Petit Poucet" trail branches off to the right.
(4) Go around several sinkholes on the left, which are often overgrown with vegetation, and keep going in the same direction. At a place called La Gruerie, turn right and you will immediately come to a crossroads, passing over the Doline des Blaireaux sinkhole: it is best not to go down there so as not to disturb the badgers.
(5) Turn left and you will arrive at the tarmac road that runs from Braillans to the Rufille farm.
(6) Follow this road to the right.
(7) Before reaching the farm, follow the black-marked trail to the left, leaving the Sentier des Dolines trail, which continues straight ahead. Continue along the black-marked trail for about 2 km. It winds for a long time before reaching a straighter section.
(8) Continue on, admiring the beautiful trees lining the path. As you pass a logging road on the right, you can see the village of Vaire-le-Grand and its castle. Then turn right at a right angle and reach the junction with Chemin des Charbonnières.
(9) Turn right again and follow this road for about 1.5 km. Pass a path on the right and you will reach a viewpoint overlooking the village of Amagney and the hills in the distance, including the distinctive Aigremont hill.
(10) Continue straight ahead on the path that winds through the woods and leads to the Amagney hunting lodge.
(11) Take advantage of the picnic table to take a break. Then take the white path on the right: you will pass small ponds inhabited by tiny frogs. You will reach a crossroads.
(12) Turn right and join the junction of the Sentier des Dolines and the Sentier de Rufille. Enjoy the undergrowth with its many species of trees.
(13) Keep following the black markings, turning left and ignoring the other paths and trails. Keep following the markings until you reach Place des Faisans (turning area).
(14) Continue left on Chemin de la Lisière.
(15) Pass near a picnic area, then near the Vaux equestrian centre on your left.
(16) Look for the path on the right that takes you to the Notre-Dame de la Libération viewpoint, with its view of the village of Thise. Otherwise, continue straight ahead and admire the view of the aerodrome, the plain and the hill of Montfaucon, before returning to the presbytery car park (S/E).
