Starting point: Town Hall and school
(S/E) From the town hall car park, opposite the school, turn left onto the shaded path leading uphill.
(1) As soon as you reach thefirst house, turn right onto the steep, hairpin-bend path winding between rocks and a wooded embankment. Follow this winding path until you emerge from the woods with a view over the Creuse valley. Walk along the cemetery wall surrounding the church and its porch.
Stay on the road until thefirst hairpin bend.
(2) Before thefirst houses in the hamlet of Les Champions, at the electricity substation, go down the hairpin bend. Further down, at the next bend, turn left and head straight on towards the fields. Walk uphill alongside the hedges.
At the end of the path, turn left (crossing route No. 9), then left again along the embankment of a pond (signposted). Follow the power line until you reachthe second path at right angles to the left (after the shed).
(3) Turn left, pass two junctions and cross a small road. Continue to the next junction.
(4) At the barrier, turn right onto a path that tends to be muddy.
(5) At the exit (another barrier), cross over to take the road on the left opposite for about 200 metres. Leave the road by turning left onto a stony track through the fields. Enter a small wood at a small pond. Ignore the next track on the left before heading down a narrow, wooded path lined with small trees to the road.
(6) Cross the road and turn right. At the next junction, turn left towards Thouaré.
Walk past a beautiful house. Ignore the path on the right leading to La Soupe Jaune. View of the pretty houses in Mazière.
Continue straight ahead along the road for 150 m, until you reach the electricity pole and transformer
(7) Go up the path on the right until you reach the top, where it meets another path. Panoramic view.
At a place called Paillé, turn left until you reach the road.
(8) Turn right onto the road. About 250 m further on, ignore the path leading downhill and stay on the road until you reach the hamlet of Prudenier.
(9) Walk through the village of Prudenier. At the farm (GAEC de la Croix and kennels), turn right and head up towards the fields. On the plateau, turn left before the hunting ground. Go straight on at the next junction along a damp, muddy track. Keep left at the next fork and continue along this track until you reach the next house.
(10) At the corner of the house, turn left and walk across open ground. When you reach the poplars, head straight up to the road, ignoring the path branching off to the left. At the road, turn right, heading in the opposite direction to the outward journey, and rejoin a junction you passed on the way out.
(8) Carry on straight ahead and head downhill to the farm. Ignore the small road on the right leading to the village of Le Clos.
(11) At the next bend, take a dirt track on the right. Immediately, turn left and cross a small bridge before the houses. At the road, turn right. Very quickly, take the path between the houses (No. 26). Climb briskly up this lovely goat track. At the edge of the Bois de la Chènaie, turn left towards an isolated house and continue to the three-way junction.
(12) Turn left onto a wider path. Ignore the paths on the right and walk past a pine copse on the left. You’ll reach the crossroads you passed on the way out.
(5) Before the road, at the gate, turn right. Retrace your steps along the path you took on the way out and reach the fork you passed on the way out.
(4) At the end of the path, turn right onto a wooded track and head back down to the unique village with its cave springs. At the end of the path, keep to the left and stay on the narrow track.
Stroll leisurely along the cliffs, taking in the view over the Creuse valley.
(13) After passing the entrance to the Notre-Dame de Lourdes cave, head back down and return to a fork in the path you passed on the way there.
(1) Continue straight on towards the starting point (S/E).
