(S/E) Below the car park, take the well-marked and signposted path heading north-west, which leads to the sheepfold (currently undergoing renovation) at Crigne Basse.
From the sheepfold, climb towards the clearly visible ledge that rises to the right of the cliff towards the Pic de Crigne. Look for the large light beige patch on the cliff, which marks the start of the ledge. Don't hesitate to zigzag widely, leaning to the left, as the slope is steep. There is no path, but there are multiple tracks made by horses in the middle of a lot of broom.
(2) At the foot of the ledge, it is wise to put your walking poles in your bag, as you will need your hands to negotiate this passage, which requires a little care. A fixed rope secures this tricky passage.
(3) Once you reach the ridge at the top of the fault, climb up to Pic de Crigne on your right.
(4) 360° panorama: Les Garnesiers, Le Grand Ferrand, Le Obiou (just visible), Le Plateau de Bure, Céüze, Les Ecrins, Le Vieux Chaillol, Le Mont Guillaume, Le Morgon, La Grande Séolane and, in the background, Les Crêtes de Lure. At your feet, you can see the Rocher de Chantelle and the orchards lining the Canal de la Durance. Turn back to the top of the fault.
(3) Look for a very poor path on the right. Red paint marks and old yellow markings should make it easier to find. This passage is tricky because it tilts towards the north side and can be very wet and slippery.
(5) At a large beech tree, turn left onto the path that will take you to the Selle ridges. From there, follow the ridge until you find a forest track.
(6) Turn left onto it and then, at the first fork, take the left-hand hairpin bend.
(7) At the second intersection marked by a cairn, ignore the path leading to the Haute Crigne sheepfold on your right and take a small path on the left (150m after the bend). This well-marked and well-signposted path will take you to the Basse Crigne sheepfold.
Then simply turn right and follow the path you took on the way up to return to your cars (S/E).
. From point 6 onwards, it is an uninteresting forest path. If I were to do it again, I would descend via the PR at 3.87km and I would take a walking stick
