The departure point is Trøllanes.
In August 2023, as the car ferry was undergoing repairs, we took a pedestrian ferry from Klaksvík and then a bus that crosses the entire island of Kolsoy to Trøllanes.
::/A: When you get off the bus, take the path on the left, in the opposite direction to the village, which leads towards the mountain. As the land belongs to a farmer, you have to pay to access the site. Payment is made at the last house on the right.
Continue straight ahead on the path until you reach the gate marking the boundary of the sheep enclosure.
(1) Go through the gate (and close it behind you), then turn right and climb the hill overlooking the village. After a slightly steep section, veer left and keep heading north-west, following the tracks through the muddy grass.
Be careful not to slip, especially on slopes or when crossing streams.
(2) When you start to see the lighthouse (if there is no fog), turn left towards the foot of the Borgarin cliff to reach James Bond's tomb.
(3) This first bird's-eye view of Kallur Lighthouse is interesting, but it's only the beginning. Descend to the lighthouse, taking care not to get too close to the edge of the cliffs.
(4) The size of the lighthouse is inversely proportional to the spectacle that awaits you.
For those who are not prone to vertigo and are sure-footed (not recommended with young children), descend behind the lighthouse to reach a promontory slightly offset to the left.
The view is breathtaking! So magnificent that it's difficult to capture the scene on a phone or camera screen (use a wide-angle lens).
Return to the lighthouse and then make a round trip to the left, to another small secondary peak from where you can see Cape Enniberg, the second highest cliff in Europe at 754 m, to the north of the island of Viðoy.
Return to the lighthouse one last time and descend on the left to rejoin the main path leading back to Trøllanes.
(2) Follow the same route back to the village (S/E).
