The short tour of Mont Panard from Touët de l'Escarène station

Arrive on the Train des Merveilles or park in the car park at Touët de l'Escarène station, taking care not to disturb local residents.

(S/E) Head north-east along Avenue de la Gare and immediately turn right onto Chemin du Champ du Moulin, which crosses the Ruisseau de Redebraus and the Nice-Tende railway line via the railway bridge. Continue along the Ravin d'Estiou stream.

(1) Turn right onto a well-marked path that runs up the left bank of the Ravin d'Estiou. When you reach a place called Le Revel, follow the track to the right until you reach marker 146.

(2) Turn sharp left onto another track heading due east as far as the Col de Cavalier.

(3) Continue left, due north, towards Albéra, a locality to be left on the left, then turn east. Leave La Vellanée and La Piste des Champs on your left to reach the crossroads of the loop.

(4) Immediately afterwards, follow a path heading due east around a bend to the right. This gullied path climbs eastwards, then forks due south and heads east again. Follow the path through the undergrowth to the Bouche de Panard, marked 980. Follow the ridge to the left as far as marker 154.

(5) Descend to the right along a path running south-west through sparse vegetation. Arrive at marker 803, at marker 153.

(6) Head due west along the track and, after a few twists and turns to the north, reach the crossroads of the loop you passed on the outward journey.

(4) Turn left and follow the opposite route, passing the Col Cavalier, marker 146 and the railway bridge, returning to the Touët de l'Escarène station (S/E).
