Description of the walk

Park in one of the car parks next to Lagnes Town Hall.

The entire walk follows GRP® yellow and red or GR® white and red markings.

(S/E) Head south along Rue de la République, then take Chemin des Esperelles on the left. Continue right onto Chemin du Boui Viei. At the end of the tarmac section, go round the water reservoir on the right and reach a crossroads of paths.

(1) Turn right onto the GRP® and continue straight on until you reach an open area near the road.

(2) Turn left onto the wide path and, at the next junction, turn right. Cross the road to reach the Bourbourin car park.

(3) Continue along the track to the left and head towards the edge of the woods.

(4) Take the path along the edge of the woods and continue straight on until you reach the fork indicated by the ‘Mur de la Peste’ sign.

(5) Follow it to the left until you reach a crossroads with several directions; there is a cistern here and a sign for La Peithe Est.

(6) Keep left and head downhill on the GR®. At the Vallon des Esperacon sign, turn right towards Fontaine de Vaucluse, staying on the GR®. You will reach a crossroads as you approach the road.

(7) Turn left onto the path marked with a Red Cross and a White Cross to reach the road. Turn left onto it, go past the hairpin bend and, via the Chemin de Bondelon, arrive at the junction with the sign for La Bastide Rouge.

(8) Turn 90° left onto the GRP® Tour des Monts de Vaucluse, marked in yellow and red, and join a tarmac path.

(9) Cross it, veering to the right, and continue along the path opposite. You’ll come out onto the road again. Follow it for a few metres to the right before reaching another junction at the Chemin du Cimetière.

(10) Leave the road here and take the path to the right of No. 427. Follow the GRP® and, at the end of Chemin du Réservoir, turn right.

(11) Enter the castle grounds through the gateway on Rue Venteuse. At the end of this street, first turn right then left and head for the town hall car park at the bottom of the village (S/E).

First of all, a big thank you to the author of this guide.
The walk takes us back nearly 200 years, to a time when, one imagines, people were already talking about lockdown
A relaxing and very informative walk
