Park in one of the car parks at the Col du Testanier on the former RN 7.
(S/E) Take the path on the north side of the road and descend the track on the right towards Lac de l'Avellan. Follow this track until you reach a large car park at a small lake on the right.
(1) Turn right onto the Espagnols forest road, follow the small lake on your left and cross the ford. Continue along this track, which now runs alongside Lac de l'Avellan, until you reach a second ford.
(2) Just after the ford, climb up to the right onto the Route Forestière du Puits Rouge. You will quickly gain height and arrive at another track.
(3) Turn left and climb up the small promontory at the edge of the track to enjoy a beautiful view of the lake.
Then retrace your steps and continue along this track to reach the Col du Logis de Paris.
(4) Cross the road carefully and climb up the rocky slabs at the edge of the track. After a few metres, you will find a passage marking an old, poorly maintained path. If you have any difficulty, the Visorando app with your GPS location will tell you if you are on the right track.
Continue along this path, which climbs through the bushes, then into open ground with low vegetation and finally into a forest of cork oaks until you reach a track.
Turn left onto the track and follow it for about 150 metres (altitude 418). Then climb up into the forest on the right via a path that is difficult to find at first. A cairn about ten metres from the track will indicate the start of the path, followed by a few red marks on the trees. If in doubt, the Visorando app will be useful.
Follow this path straight up into the forest to reach a ridge facing Mont Vinaigre.
(5) Take the path that runs along the ridge on the right and climbs towards the radio tower at the level of a Grande Randonnée (GR®) trail.
Red and white markings
(6) Follow theGR® to the left, pass the helipad and continue left on the road that passes under the watchtower.
Just before reaching the tower, turn left and follow theGR® to reach the summit of Mont Vinaigre on a large concrete slab.
(7) Retrace your steps.
(6) Continue straight ahead on the GR®. On the descent, the trail crosses a small road twice before arriving at a track near a cistern.
(8) Continue on theGR® which climbs slightly to the right above the road. At the next intersection, continue to the right overlooking the road in a small eucalyptus forest. Follow this path until you reach the Col du Testanier (S/E).
