Start from the bread oven located above the D152, at the foot of Mont Chabrier (easy parking at the roadside).
(S/E) Opposite the bread oven, take the small road that climbs northwards and quickly ends at a house. Continue along the house on the left via a grassy path. After passing a water catchment, you will reach a yellow-marked path coming from the village of Monedeyres. Climb this path on the right and join a track. Pass a water catchment on the left in the meadows, then a second on the right in the woods, and reach a third, still on the right in the woods.
(1) Climb up to the right into the woods, following the yellow markings. Walk along a scree slope on the right, then on the left, then on both sides. Continue climbing through the woods until you reach a forest road.
(2) Just before the forest road, turn left onto a path with markings and reach the D18. Cross it and take the track opposite, which leads to the isolated house of La Banque and theGR®65.
(3) At the crossroads, leave the yellow markings and turn right onto theGR®65, which you will follow. Descend, cross a small road and join the D18. Follow it straight ahead for 600m and leave it for a path that descends to the left into the meadows. Join a small road on the left that leads to the D42.
(4) Cross this road and take a path opposite that descends into the meadows. Pay attention to the three-way junction in the path and take the right-hand branch. At the bottom of a steep descent, you will reach a small road. Cross it and take the path opposite to the second house.
(5) At the crossroads, leave theGR® for a (poorly) marked yellow path that climbs up to the right along a hedge. The path leads to a pass where you rejoin the road you crossed earlier. Leave the markings and descend opposite on the road to reach the Auze stream.
(6) Cross it and immediately turn left onto the small road that runs alongside the Auze. Take the first road on the right, which climbs straight up after a few metres. Pass the last house, where the road ends. Continue along the path that climbs up to a four-way crossroads.
(7) Take the path on the left, then turn right at the first crossroads. This will take you to another crossroads where you will find numerous marked and/or signposted paths. Take the path on the right and you will come to a small road in the forest. Turn left and then immediately right, following the markings and signs. Climb quite steeply (about 100m elevation gain) and you will come to a track suitable for vehicles.
(8) Leave the marked trail and take the path on the left, which follows the contour line and climbs slightly. Pass a picnic table and you will reach a wide track. Descend to the left along this track to reach a large crossroads (do not look for the chalet indicated on the IGN map, as it has been destroyed). Climb to the right along a good path and join the Bonas discovery trail, which is signposted and marked (sometimes yellow, sometimes blue).
(9) Climb up to the right along this path, which will take you to the summit of Pic du Lizieux.
(10) At the summit, continue straight ahead on the Bonas trail and descend among the rocks. You will reach the woods and the slope will become less steep. At the crossroads, do not take the straight path opposite, but turn left onto a small path which is still the Bonas trail (the signposts have disappeared at the crossroads). Ignore all the paths on either side. Come out into the open, turn right and head for the Menhir de Chièze, which overlooks a beautiful landscape.
(11) Continue along the path until you reach a car park. From there, go down the road on the left, ignore the road that joins from the left and reach a right-angled crossroads.
(12) Take the path on the right that climbs gently. After an esplanade, turn left at the second three-way junction (note: the path is not very visible). The path quickly widens to become a forest track that joins a road at the same time as a yellow-marked trail. Turn left onto this road with the markings and then go down the road that winds between the houses. At the second crossroads, go straight down (yellow markings) along a path that quickly becomes wet and leads to a road.
(13) Ignore the markings opposite and turn right onto a small road that runs alongside a large farm building and joins the D42 just before Recharinges. Take this road on the right to the restaurant in the centre of the village.
(14) Turn left along the restaurant kitchens on a small road. You will find yellow markings, which you should follow for a while. Follow this road, which climbs with the markings and turns into a path. At the crossroads, take the left path and join a small road on the left. After about 200m, climb up to the right on a steep path. At the first junction, take the path on the right that climbs uphill and leads to a three-way junction. All the paths are marked with yellow signs; take the left fork that climbs steeply, reaches a flat area, turns right, and joins a large esplanade used by foresters.
(15) Take the path opposite, which climbs steadily through the forest and joins a forest road.
(16) Take this road on the left for 500 metres and you will reach the car park for Testavoyre, the highest point of the Meygal massif. Go past the car park and descend on the right along a roughly straight grassy path that joins another forest road.
(17) Cross this road and take the path opposite. As soon as you enter the woods, take the left fork at the three-way junction. Then, at the first crossroads, take the path on the right which descends gently before the slope becomes steeper. Follow this path downhill until you reach a crossroads with a path on the right, on a contour line, at the edge of a coniferous forest. Take this path, which then descends more steeply and leaves the woods. You will reach a three-way junction. Ignore the right-hand branch, which goes uphill, and continue downhill to the left until you reach the first houses of Monedeyres. The path turns into a road and you will reach the bread oven (S/E).
