Lake Tremelin and La Chambre au Loup from Paimpont

A walk allowing you to discover Lake Tremelin from Paimpont, passing by the Chêne des Hindrés, the Vallon de la Chambre au Loup, Merlin’s Tomb and the Fountain of Youth. Lake Tremelin offers a chance to cool off with a swim at its beach.

Description of the route

Start from the Esplanade de Brocéliande car park, Rue du Général de Gaulle.

(S/E) With your back to the car park, head straight ahead onto the D40 (Rue du Roi Salomon) and continue to the roundabout.

(1) Turn right onto the D38, towards Plélan le Grand, and continue to the first junction.

(2) Take the D40 on the left, towards Saint-Péran. Continue straight on until the next junction (Carrefour de Péronnette) with the small sign for Étang du Pas du Houx.

(3) Turn left.

(4) At the pond, turn left, then take a right-hand bend, staying on the tarmac road. Continue straight on until you reach the four-way junction at Telhouët.

(5) Take the road on the right and head for the Chêne des Hindrés car park.

(6) You can lock up your bikes and walk the round trip to the Chêne des Hindrés, which is opposite the car park. Then continue along the D71 to the next junction.

(7) Head straight on to the give way sign and the junction with the D59.

(8) Turn left onto the D59 and continue to Saint-Malon-sur-Mel.

(9) At the church, turn right onto Rue de la Forge and continue straight on until you reach a side road.

(10) Turn right and continue to the next junction.

(11) Follow the road to the left to the lake.

(12) You can lock your bikes here to go and see the Chambre au Loup valley. Continue along the same road.

(13) At the stop sign, follow the D61 to the left.

(14) Turn onto the first road on the right towards Lac de Tremelin. Follow the ‘exit’ signs, keeping to the left.

(15) Back at the junction with the D61, turn left onto it.

(14) Go back to the junction and continue straight on until the next one.

(13) Turn right at the first junction to head back towards La Chambre au Loup. Continue along the same road you took on the way out until you reach the path leading to Le Buisson, Merlin’s Tomb and the Fountain of Youth.

(7) Turn right onto this path and continue to the car park.

(16) Turn around and head back onto the D71.

(7) Turn right towards Paimpont and continue straight on to La Telhouët.

(5) Head straight on to Paimpont.

(17) Back in Paimpont, turn left onto Rue du Chevalier Lancelot du Lac. Continue along the embankment to return to the starting point (S/E).
