Val Sans Retour circular walk from Paimpont

To reach the start of the ride, park in Paimpont (parking available at the starting point) or take the coach from Rennes.
If you need a bike, you can hire one here at Brocéliande Bike.

(S/E) Take the cycle path along the embankment on Rue des Forges.

(1) Turn left onto Rue Chevalier Lancelot du Lac.

(2) After the municipal campsite, at the Y-junction, take the small road on the left, then continue straight on to the hamlet of Riochon, ignoring one junction.

(3) Continue straight on, staying on the road.

(4) At the hamlet of Le Vaubossard, take the road on the left to reach the Chêne à Guillotin. Then continue straight on until you reach the hamlet of Crozon.

(5) After passing the car park and the picnic tables, turn left at the junction, then continue straight on until you reach the four-way junction at a place called La Saudraie.

(6) Take the D141 on the left, towards Tréhorenteuc. Continue straight on until you reach the junction with the C101.

(7) Keep left towards Fontaine de Barenton. Follow the road as it bends left, until you reach La Folle Pensée.

(8) Cross the hamlet to reach the Fontaine de Barenton car park.

(9) If you’d like to visit it, you can lock up your bikes and walk a 3 km circular route. To continue the ride, head back along the same route to the junction with the D141.

(7) Turn left to continue towards the village of Tréhorenteuc. Carry on straight ahead until you reach the four-way junction with the C102.

(10) Take the road on the right to quickly reach the car park at the Tumulus du Jardin aux Moines. Then turn around and take the D141 on the right to continue towards the village of Tréhorenteuc.

(11) At the entrance to the village, continue along Rue du Pâtis to reach the picnic area.

(12) You can lock up your bikes to visit the Church of the Grail or go for a 4 km walk to see the Val-Sans-Retour. Return to the village entrance.

(11) Take the D154 on the left towards Néant-sur-Yvel and continue straight on

(13) Once in Néant-sur-Yvel, take Rue du Val-sans-retour (D134) opposite.

(14) Take the^2nd right onto Rue de la Grotte. The Round Table of the New Knights is on your left. Continue straight on until you reach the roundabout

(15) Take the^first exit on the right towards Paimpont and head for the Tumulus du Jardin aux Moines and a junction you passed on the way there.

(10) Continue straight on towards Paimpont until you reach the Carrefour Fontaine Leron.

(16) Turn right, then continue straight on to reach Le Châtenay.

(17) Turn left onto the D40 and continue straight on to Paimpont.

(18) At the roundabout, take the third exit, then continue straight on the D773, Rue des Forges, to return to the starting point (S/E).

Picnic tables are available in the Chêne à Guillotin car park and in the village of Tréhorenteuc.
Much of the route takes you through the forest and under the shade of the trees of Brocéliande.
Broceliande Bike, an e-bike hire company, is located at the starting point if required. Le Pas Sage, a sandwich shop, is also available if you wish to order a packed lunch to take with you on the ride.
