The starting point is on the N98 road towards La Môle, at a place called Bargean. There is a car park with a sign describing the main hikes in Bormes (on the right-hand side of the road).
(S/E) Cross the road and take theGR® 90 opposite for 200 m.
(1) TheGR®90branches off to the right, crosses a ford and then turns left. Simply follow the path to the Grand Noyer reservoir.
(2) Take the track that climbs to the right for about 300 metres.
(3) Then follow the path that descends slightly to the left. This is still theGR®90.
You will then find yourself on a pleasant section through the woods. Cross the stream that feeds the previous reservoir and, under more trees, you will reach the ruins of Grand Noyer as you arrive on a carriage road.
(4) Turn left and follow this road for just over 1.5 km until theGR®90leaves it.
(5) Climb steeply to the right, still following theGR®90. Be careful not to miss this change of direction (when we passed, a mudslide had covered the tracks indicating the change of direction). Climb steeply, make a few hairpin bends and continue climbing northwards.
(6) At the top, on a turning area, follow a track westwards, still on theGR®90.
(7) At the next intersection, turn left onto the Piste de Gourre (leave theGR®). Descend to the old Chemin du Révérencier, which you will reach after about 3 km.
(8) Then turn left onto the Révérencier, an old, little-used path where nature is gradually reclaiming its rights. Note the various bridges and numerous stone retaining walls: sublime! After almost 3 km, you will come to a wider path.
(9) This is still the Révérencier, but this section is still used, particularly by forestry vehicles parked in the car park of the Caunes forest house, which you will see below.
Turn left and then cross a concrete ford.
(10) Turn left again. This is still the Révérencier!
(11) About 500 m further on, take the path that descends to the right, not the one that climbs to the left.
You will begin a steep descent through centuries-old, thorny undergrowth, oak trees, chestnut trees... Magnificent! You will then walk along the Bargean stream for 200 to 300 metres before arriving at a bridge.
(12) Cross the bridge and, as soon as you have crossed it, turn right... You are still on the Révérencier.
Continue for about 2.5 km until you arrive just above the INRAE buildings.
(13) Turn left onto the path that will take you back to the Petit Noyer valley.
(14) Turn right and head for the car park (S/E).
