The bread oven at Rioclar

This is a short walk, the main purpose of which is to admire the surrounding mountains, including the Tête de Louis XVI. The village's municipal bread oven, still used by the villagers, bears witness to a time when Rioclar was isolated from the valley.

Description of the walk

Car park at the Lou Riouclar holiday home.

(S/E) From the car park, take the tarmac road called Route Serre-Léger, which is the main access road to the holiday home, and follow it carefully. At a bend, you will reach a crossroads directly below the power line.

(1) Turn left and continue carefully along the road until you reach a crossroads.

(2) Turn left onto the downhill track, just before the safety barrier. The short wooded area gives way to views of the surrounding mountains. You will reach the crossroads with the school and the municipal oven.

(3) Turn left at the school crossroads. Continue for about 100 metres, then turn left behind the barn onto a wooded path leading uphill. When you reach a cairn marking the crossroads, turn left, then left again onto the track. Continue along the track and take a shortcut to reach the car park of the Lou Riouclar holiday home (S/E).
