The waterfront circuit in Reiningue

The "Au fil de l'eau" circuit, between the Doller and Leimbach rivers, crosses a magnificent oak-lined avenue before entering the Vorwald oak forest, passes by two series of blockhouses, then the Müatergottesgartla Chapel, and reaches the banks of the Doller via farmland north of Reiningue.

The entire route is marked with the Anneau Vert (Green Ring) sign by the Club Vosgien de Guewenheim

Description of the walk

Park in the car park of the town hall and church in Reiningue.

(S/E) From the town hall, head north, leaving the church on your right, turn left into Rue de l'Église, then cross Rue de Mulhouse at the pedestrian crossing.

(1) Opposite the pedestrian crossing, take the Anneau Vert marked trail to Rue des Cerisiers, turn left, then at the right-hand bend, leave the street and continue straight ahead on a path to Rue de Wittelsheim.

(2) Turn right and follow Rue de Wittelsheim for about 150 metres, then turn left and follow Chemin des Jardins to No. 2.

(3) Immediately afterwards, turn right and then left into Allée des Chênes. Follow this lane along the edge of the forest until you reach the start of a path about 100 m before a field.

(4) Turn right to enter the Vorwald forest. The marked Anneau Vert trail passes between two blockhouses. Cross the Leimbach stream and pass two other blockhouses just before Chemin de Cernay.

(5) Turn right, continue along Chemin de Cernay, pass the Müatergottesgartla Chapel and, shortly afterwards, turn left onto Rue de Vorwald and join the D19 / Route de Wittelsheim.

(6) Turn left, follow this road and, at the stadium, follow the footpath. Cross the Leimbach stream to reach a crossroads.

(7) Turn right, cross the D19 with caution and continue straight ahead to the next crossroads. Turn right and, before a bridge, turn left at the hairpin bend and continue straight ahead for about 500 m.

(8) Leave the path, turn right, cross the Leimbach stream again and continue to the first houses in Reiningue. Cross the D20/Rue de Mulhouse with caution and continue straight ahead to the path running along the left bank of the Doller.

(9) Turn right and continue along this path until you reach the footbridge, following the Anneau Vert signs.

(10) Turn left and cross the Doller via the footbridge. Continue on the right along the path running alongside the right bank of the Doller until you reach the junction with the D19

(11) Turn right onto the D19, cross the bridge over the Doller and then a second bridge over a stream. Immediately after, at the crossroads, turn right and follow Rue Principale, pass the nursery school and reach the junction with Rue Georges Alter.

(12) Turn right towards the church and head for the car park at Reiningue Town Hall (S/E).

Very easy hike, accessible to everyone (well marked).
Given the heatwave, there wasn't a drop of water to be found on a route called "au fil de l'eau").

An easy, well-described (and well-marked) hike. One part through the village and forest is very pleasant, while another part through the fields is a little less enjoyable.
