The Korrigans Trail in Plouescat

This walk, which I could have called "Between Land and Sea on the Plouescat Coast", will allow you to discover the countryside bordering the sea on one side and the coastal path, part of theGR®34, which runs along the sea on the other.
Depending on the season, you will have the opportunity to discover the artichoke and onion fields of the legendary coast. Enjoy the pleasant fragrance of the flower-filled fields and the ocean stirred by the wind from the sea.

Description of the walk

Pen ar Pors Plouescat car park near theGR®34.

(S/E) With your back to the car park, head west and follow the road.
Feel free to follow the yellow markings (yellow tape stuck to the posts) to make sure you're on the right track.

(1) Follow the road as it turns left, ignoring the coastal path, which will be the way back. Pass Prat Bihan.

(2) At the left-hand bend in the road, take the track on your right at the farmhouse. This is where the "land" part of the walk begins. Follow the dirt track that turns right. You will be in the middle of fields of artichokes, green onions and white onions. Continue until you reach a road.

(3) Turn right and take the road, following the sign for "Entre Terre et Mer" (do not follow the sign for "Chemin des Korrigans").
After 100 metres, turn onto the dirt track again, leaving the road on your right.
Follow the path, then turn right at elevation 27 and continue straight ahead until you reach a road. First turn right then left to enter the village of Kerdanné and walk alongside the houses on either side of the road.

(4). Turn right and take the track that leads you towards the sea, visible in the distance.
You will then walk alongside fields of artichokes and onions on either side of the path. Take the opportunity to admire the sea in the distance. Continue until you reach the next junction with a road at a place called Landerné Vihan

(5). Follow the road to the left, continue straight ahead at the crossroads and you will arrive at the coastal path

(6). You will finally arrive at the "sea" part of the walk. You can go down to the cove below to rest, have a picnic or enjoy the sea.
Turn right onto theGR®34, which will take you along the coast.
You will enjoy beautiful seascapes, ocean views and the wind caressing your face all along the way.

(7) Take a look at the Camp Louis menhir standing proudly facing the sea.
Continue along theGR®34trail towards the east, following the coastline.

(1) Finish with the short stretch of road that leads to the Pen ar Pors car park (S/E).

Notes

You will need waterproof hiking boots to walk along the dirt paths and through the artichoke and onion fields of the coastal countryside.

In strong sunshine: water, sun cream and a hat will come in handy.

Worth a visit

You will discover the famous artichoke and onion fields of the north coast.

From time to time, you will see seaweed kilns dug into the ground, which our ancestors used to extract soda and iodine from seaweed for the pharmaceutical market.

A very pleasant walk between land and sea. A bit muddy, but that's normal at this time of year.

The weather was fine but cool in mid-September.
With the app, it was easy to follow the directions.
I really enjoyed this walk; the coastal section is really interesting, with stunning rocks all along the way.
Highly recommended!

The inland areas are less attractive than the coast, but they allow you to make a circular route.

A beautiful hike with varied views and landscapes, well marked on the ground. A magnificent standing stone by the sea.

Difficult start to find. Then very pleasant and beautiful, but the end is on the country road...
