Park at the Étang du Coucou car park near Salm (part of La Broque).
Followthe green signs throughout the first part of the route.
(S/E) From the car park, return to the road and immediately turn right onto a path overlooking the road and running parallel to it. The path runs alongside a fence. Further on, go back down to the road opposite a house.
(1) Follow it to the right towards "Ruines de Salm" and pass a high-voltage cabinet. Then turn right towards the Sentier des Passeurs (GR®532).
(2) At a three-way junction, take the path on the right towards Château de Salm. Follow the signs for "Rotonde" and then "Place charbonnière".
(3) Cross a forest path and turn left then right to continue on the marked trail. Ignore the sign on the left for "Château de Salm", which offers a loop in the other direction.
(4) When you reach the ruins of Château de Salm, climb up onto a secure viewing platform to enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding area. Do not retrace your steps, but continue on through the ruins.
See the information board about the history of the castle and the restoration work being carried out by the Association des Veilleurs de Salm. Further on, see a geological curiosity called a cupule stone, then arrive at a crossroads (meeting point).
(5) Ignore the various paths and continue straight ahead on the marked trail. Continue towards La Chatte Pendue, crossing several fences (protected area) until you reach the summit.
(6) La Chatte Pendue: a secure rocky platform offering beautiful views of the surrounding area, complete with a comprehensive orientation table. Continue downhill. After a footbridge, cross a forest path and continue on the trail opposite.
(7) Cross another path and continue straight ahead along the Route Forestière des Quatre Hêtres.

At a bend, turn left twice. Follow an old stone road, pass a barrier and you will see the Monument des Passeurs.
(8) At the Monument des Passeurs, continue straight ahead. Join the Route Forestière de la Maxe and turn right (opposite the blue triangle and red rectangle signpost).
(9) Further on, find the Blue Cross sign and turn left.
(10) Leave the path and follow a trail that branches off slightly to the left.

(11) At the Col de Pertuis (be careful, in this direction, the sign is not clearly visible as it is behind you), turn right towards the Étang du Coucou, then follow the forest path downhill to the right.
(12) Cross another forest road and turn right and then left towards Basse Madeleine. After a small house, continue straight ahead, crossing a stream, and at the three-way junction just after, stay on the left-hand path (opposite).
(13) At a bend, leave the path and take a trail on the left towards Circuit de Salm. This is followed by a steep descent with hairpin bends. Look for the Tourbière de la Maxe (information board and wooden walkway) and follow the path that curves to the right.
(14) Further on, descend to the left and join the Étang du Coucou. Pass by the side opposite the road to reach the car park (S/E).
