Park in the car park on Rue Place de l'Église in Montaud.
(S/E) Head south-west towards the junction with Rue Gaston Baissette. Turn left, pass the Charles Perrault school. Follow the road, then take Rue des Mazes. Head towards the Mazes neighbourhood.
(1) Turn right between the houses, go under the small covered passageway and continue along Rue de la Fontaine des Amours. At the crossroads, go straight ahead. Turn right twice in succession. In the hamlet of Les Vignettes, you will come to a tarmac road.
(2) Take the road on the left, enter the woods and continue until you reach a crossroads.
(3) Turn right onto this small path. Climb up the hill heading north. At the top, you will reach a wider path.
(4) Follow it until you reach the Serre des Pierrasses. Here, a large curve begins on the right, leading to the Truc des Salles crossroads, where there is a small pond.
(5) Leave the main path and follow the trail that descends to the right (southeast). Continue along it until you reach a junction of six paths and roads.
(6) Take the road on the left to Saint-Bauzille-de-Montmel. Before reaching the village, you will come to the junction with the D21.
(7) Turn right, then immediately left onto the road running alongside the Valen stream. Leave the stream behind and cross two other streams (Pontil and La Lequette). At a sharp bend, you will come to another crossroads.
(8) Turn left onto the road heading north-east. Follow it along the Montlaur woods until you reach a fork. Continue on the right-hand road for about 350 metres.
(9) At the crossroads, follow the main road on the right leading to Montlaur Castle.
(10) Drive around the castle on the right, taking great care. To see what remains, follow the signs providing historical information and rules to follow. Drive through the hamlet and follow the path that branches off to the right after the square until you reach the D21 E2.
(11) Return to Montaud along this road, then follow Rue du Vallon until you reach Rue du Rabadel, cross Rue de la Fontaine, turn right onto Rue de la Clapisse and return to the car park where you started (S/E).
