The Plan d'Ailas loop

A family hike, originally marked in blue but with many markers removed by vandals. It will take you through the north-eastern part of the village of Teyran: the Plan d’Ailas. Beautiful view of Pic Saint-Loup and the Castries Aqueduct.

Description of the walk

Park at Place des Chênes Verts and look for the sign marking the start of the walk.

(S/E) Take the single track between the houses, heading north-east. Cross the first track, continue climbing straight ahead on the single track until you reach another track, which you take to the left for 50 m.

(1) Turn right and follow a new single track between two holm oaks. After 200 m, at the three-way junction, continue left into the forest. Keep going straight on this track until you reach a new track running perpendicular to it.

(2) Turn left, climb up to the information board for the aqueduct and the castle. Then go downhill and take the track on the right. Pass the information board for Pic Saint-Loup and stay on the track. At the first junction, turn right and, at the second, go downhill to the left. 100 m past the vineyard and the information board for Plan d’Ailas, turn right.

(3) Walk for 50 m, then take a single-track path on the left through the heath. On this single-track path, at each small fork, turn right, without joining the track below. You will reach a small clearing.

(4) Turn left, follow the single track and, at the track, take the path immediately to the right to join the main track, which you follow to the right for about 500 m.

(5) At this crossroads, continue to the right. Keep the vineyard on your right and the forest on your left and head towards the path leading off at the right-hand bend.

(6) Turn left onto this single-track path at a yellow gas pipe marker. You’ll come out onto a track; turn left onto it and stay on this track until you reach a main track. Turn right twice, following the sprinklers. After 100 m, a final single-track path on the left leads back to the houses. At the road, turn right onto it to return to Place des Chênes Verts (S/E).

Hello,

On this route, the blue signposts are poorly marked, faded or non-existent,
It took at least twice as long to complete the route!
There were even people in the same situation who were using GPS to find their way
In section 3, the rest of the route to follow!
The description and signposting need reviewing to make this
route .

Best regards
