Le Chasseral via Combe Grède and Dairy Farm de Morat from Villeret

Park in the car park marked Combe Gréde on Rue Principale in Villeret on the right-hand side when coming from Saint-Imier.

(S/E) Take the main street on the right, then turn right at^{the first} crossroads. Ignore the streets on the left at the next two small crossroads. At the next crossroads, turn left and continue straight ahead. You will reach a crossroads (at the concrete structures used to channel the flow of the torrent that can come from the Combe).

(1) Take the path on the left and continue straight ahead. Ignore the various paths that branch off to the right or left on the way up. You will reach Pré aux Auges.

(2) Turn left onto the marked path towards Les Limes and Métairie de Meuringue. Pass in front of the Limes-Derrière building, cross a small forest, then reach a pasture.
Note: it is possible to go directly to Dairy Farm de Morat by keeping to the right in the valley.

(3) Turn right through a dedicated passage in the pasture, aiming for a tree, then follow an unmarked path to the top of this ridge and the chalet located there.

(4) Descend and you will quickly reach the dairy farm de Morat.

(5) Cross it, then follow the road uphill. At the Métairie la Neuve, take the marked path on the left. This leads to the Chasseral ridge.

(6) Turn right. Follow the ridge towards Le Signal, pass at its foot and reach the summit of Chasseral.

(7) Continue straight ahead along the road until you reach the hotel car park.

(8) Take the marked trail on the right that descends into the valley towards the Saint-Jean and Plânes dairy farms. Cross the road twice above the Saint-Jean dairy farm and descend into the valley towards Pré aux Auges. You will reach a junction of marked trails.

(9) Take the marked trail on the left and follow it around a bend to a gate.

(10) Here, you can make a return trip and go through the barrier to see the viewpoint overlooking Combe Grède on the right.
Return to the crossroads, continue downhill to the right, passing in front of the dairy farm of Plânes, and you will soon come to a crossroads with a marked trail.

(11) Take the path on the right to reach a new T-junction.

(12) Turn right towards Villeret. After the descent into the forest, take the path on the left that climbs slightly. You will then arrive at another crossroads.

(13) Leave the path leading to La Bennone on your left and continue to the right. Turn left at the fence in front of La Dairy Farm aux Renards. Then enter the forest and continue downhill on an almost straight section. You will reach the edge of the forest.

(14) Take the path on the right, stay in the forest, turn left at the next crossroads, then return to the initial crossroads.

(1) Opposite, take the path in the opposite direction to the outward journey and return to the Combe Gréde car park (S/E).

(S/E) Parking in Villeret is free.
The climb to the summit takes you along the Combe Gréde, which is largely secured (ladders, handrails and metal cables at the more exposed sections). However, it is not recommended in wet weather (slippery limestone rocks and the possibility of rock falls in the lower section over a certain length).
