Start at the car park near the church in Fay-aux-Loges
(S/E). Go around the church via Rue de la Moinerie towards the main street, Rue Abbé Georges Thomas. Turn left onto the main street and, after about 50 metres, turn right onto Rue Dumain.

(1) Facing the Orléans Canal, turn right and follow the waterway to the bridge. Cross the canal and take the towpath, a narrow path running alongside the canal on your right.

(2) Continue along the towpath as the canal widens momentarily, passing the confluence of the Cens on your left, then the old pumping station at the Nestin lock. Keep the canal on your right and pass the Jonchère lock.
(3) The towpath leads to the next lock at Gué Girault, near the Nestin forest house. Cross the canal at Gué Girault, then turn right onto the D9.
(4) At the crossroads after about 50 metres, leave the tarmac road and turn left onto the path marked "Carrefour d'Alger 1.1". Entering the Orléans National Forest, the path is reserved for "authorised persons" (which includes hikers), with access restricted by a barrier. This wide, straight path leads to Carrefour d'Alger.
(5) At the star-shaped crossroads known as "Carrefour d'Alger", continue along the road called "Route d'Alger", taking the fourth exit on the right (towards the west). This new straight lane leads out of the national forest onto a street where you turn right.
(6) Leave the tarmac road shortly after the street curves to the right, taking a path on the left that heads north.
(7) At Château d'Herbault, the path meets a cross street called "Chemin des Genièvres," which you will take to the left, in a hairpin turn. At the hamlet of Les Genièvres, the street curves to the left.
(8) At the end of the bend, at the crossroads, turn right onto the street leading to the hamlet of La Courie. As soon as you reach the first houses, leave the tarmac road and take the first path on the left. Ignore the path on the right. The path widens and becomes tarmac as it enters Fay-aux-Loges, then crosses the departmental road.
(9) At the crossroads marked with a cross, take Rue de la Bretauche on the right towards the village, then, opposite the school, take the path on the left. This intersects with a side street, which you will take to the right.
(10) Turn right again onto Rue André Chenal, then left onto Rue de la Moinerie to return to the car park near the church, the starting point of the walk (S/E).
