César’s Camp

Start from Lierville, Rue Saint-Martin.

(S/E) Continue along this street towards the schools and the church.^GR® 11. Red and white markings.

(1) Turn left onto Rue d’Hardeville.

(2) After passing the sports ground on your left, continue along the^GR®11, heading to the right. Ignore the paths branching off on either side and head for a junction marked by a wayside cross.

(3) Carry on straight ahead on the^GR®11. Cross the D157 carefully and head left for 20 metres.

(4) Enter the Bois de l’Île on your right and continue for 1.1 km.

(5) At the junction, you’ll see a sign on your right. Turn left towards Velannes-la-Ville and walk alongside the watercress fields.

(6) At the end of the path, turn left, and 50 metres further on, take the path to the right of the gate.

(7) Leave the^GR® 11. Walk past the wayside cross and, 100 metres further on, walk alongside Nucourt Church on your left.

(8) From the church, carry on straight ahead to reach Camp de César.

(9) Turn right onto the Route de Serans.

(10) You’ll see the old Nucourt railway station on your right. Carry on straight ahead and, after the bend, turn left onto the Chemin des Carrières for 800 metres.

(11) At the entrance to Hardeville, turn left onto the Chemin des Vergers. Walk alongside the orchards and head due north along the path on your left. Continue straight on across the fields for 1.5 km until you reach the crossroads with the wayside cross.

(3) Turn right onto Chemin du Bellay, which takes a sharp left-hand bend after 400 m, then head for the fork in the road near the sports ground.

(2) Carry on straight ahead along the path you took on the way there, which leads to Rue Saint-Martin in Lierville (S/E).
