Car park for the botanical trail, situated north of Sérignan-du-Comtat on the D65 towards Lagarde-Paréol.
(Start/End) From the car park, facing the houses, turn right onto the path that climbs alongside a large wall, marked with yellow and red signs (GRP®®).
Just before a large open area, take the small path that climbs into the forest; at the first fork in the road, look out for the cairn indicating you should go up to the right (no markings), then continue uphill to a further fork in the road.
(1) Turn left; the path continues through the woodland, following the markings or cairns, then reaches the higher ground for a ridge walk. Carry on straight ahead along this straight stretch, ignoring the paths branching off on either side.
(2) At a junction, turn right onto the path that descends (no markings), which joins a lovely track. Follow it to the left for 300 metres, then at a Fork in the road, take the left-hand track and go through the gate to continue for 1.5 km along this track.
(3) At a sharp right-hand bend, look out for a path leading straight ahead into the forest; it is blocked by tree trunks and cables (most likely blocked in this way to prevent motorbikes from passing). Leave the track and follow this path which descends into the forest; at times it runs through a tunnel of boxwood where you’ll need to duck your head, and is blocked twice more by metal pipes which you’ll need to climb over.
(4) Next, the signposted route turns right and leads to the ‘Puy Vieux Sud’ sign. Carry on straight ahead, ignoring all the other paths branching off, pass a ruin and continue along this sandy track.
(5) Once at the ‘La Galle Nord’ junction, turn right towards Castellas along a section of the botanical trail.
On reaching Castellas, turn left towards Le Moulinas; the chapel is 200 metres further up. If you take the path on the left for 100 metres, you can see the ruins of Castellas. Return to the chapel.
(6) Head back down the track you took on the way there to retrace your steps. Head towards the gate, go through it and take the road opposite, marked in yellow.
Once at the Combe de Paris junction, take the track going uphill opposite towards Replat Ouest.
(7) At Replat Ouest, turn right onto the track towards Le Replat. Continue straight on along the red and white-marked track (GR®®4) and ignore all other trail junctions.
(8) At the ‘Le Replat’ signpost, do not turn right towards Sérignan du Comtat, but turn left towards Tartarus Nord.
(9) At the Tartarus Nord sign, turn right onto the track towards Les Grand Bosquets.
(10) Once at the Les Grand Bosquets junction, turn right towards Les Tartarus, marked with the Red Cross and white colors but signposted in yellow and red (GRP®®).
Continue following these markings, passing the junctions at Le Saule, Le Saule Sud, Les Fanges, Pied-Redon and Chemin Blanc, heading towards Sérignan du Comtat at each one.
When the route joins a tarmac road, turn right to head back up towards the car park (S/E).
