From Perpignan, take the N116 towards Vinça; at the Vinça reservoir, turn left onto the D13 towards Baillestavy, then Valmanya and the D13d. The road ends at the Los Masos car park on the left.
Do not obstruct access to La Llentillà; agricultural vehicles use this route.
Yellow markings
(S/E) At the signpost for the Pinatell shelter: do not take the unpaved track to the right at the end of the road and do not cross the River Llentillà.
Take the grassy track that climbs slightly through the undergrowth. Now cross the Llentillà river via a footbridge (1082 m). The path climbs, heading due south-west, through the forest. Numerous hairpin bends lead you, in turn, through huge piles of rocks. Beautiful views open up in these clearings. Continue climbing towards the clearing until you reach the Pinatell shelter.
Red and white markings of the GR® 10, which replaces the GRP® Tour du Canigou
(1) At the Abri Pinatell, turn sharply right onto the GR® 10 towards the Balcon du Canigou.
When we passed through on 28 May 2020, the stream crossings were very difficult.
(2) The Llentillà crossing was completely blocked by trees uprooted by an avalanche. Snow bridges remained in the stream... Continue on your way, now heading north-east. The scenery is magnificent. The path climbs slightly to cross a few rocky sections towards the Roc de les Molleres, at around 1,675 m, and the open area of the Ras de Prat de la Cabrera (enclosure of the Pré de la Chèvre) comes into view.
Red and white markings of the GR® 36 and its variant
(3) At the junction with a track and three paths (elevation 1,738 m), head straight on into the summer pasture, following the path that descends into the abandoned grazing area (May 2020).
Do not take the track and leave the GR®10, which heads left towards Les Cortalets.
The path leading down joins the track.
(4) At the signpost, follow this track to the right, north-east, for 600 m.
(5) At the fork, turn right and head uphill into the grazing area. There is a signpost.
Follow theGR®36, letting its alternative route continue along the track. The path climbs slightly.
(6) At the top of the path, there is an option to take a short detour to a viewpoint on the left.
(7) A unique viewpoint consisting of a steel orientation table on which the various clearly visible peaks are welded and engraved.
''If you stand close to the metal sheet, you can see (or make out) the Refuge des Cortalets, due west in a pass.''
Turn back and return to the previous fork.
(6) Continue to the left. From here, the path descends steeply into the Bosc de Patriques (Patriques Wood). At the very bottom of this rather difficult descent, pass through an iron gate, cross a small stream and join a small, dead-end tarmac road.
At this road, turn right, towards the Los Masos car park (S/E).
