From Perpignan, take the N116 towards Vinça. At the Vinça reservoir, turn left onto the D13 towards Baillestavy, then Valmanya and the D13d. The road ends at the Los Masos car park on the left.
Do not block access to La Llentillà, as agricultural vehicles use this road.
Yellow markings
(S/E) At the signpost for Pinatell shelter, do not take the end of the tarmac road on the right and do not cross the La Lentilla (Llentillà) river.
Take the grassy track that climbs slightly through the woods. Now cross the Llentillà river via a footbridge (1082 m). The path climbs south-west through the forest. Numerous hairpin bends take you alternately through huge rock formations. Beautiful views appear in these open areas. Continue climbing towards the open area until you reach the Pinatell shelter.
Red and white markings for the GR® 10 replace those for the GRP® Tour du Canigou
(1) At the Abri Pinatell, turn right onto the GR® 10 on the Balcon du Canigou.
When we passed through on 28 May 2020, the stream crossings were very difficult.
(2) The Llentillà crossing was completely blocked by trees uprooted by a snow slide. Snow bridges remained in the stream... Continue on, now heading northeast. The landscape is magnificent. The path climbs slightly to cross a few rocky passages towards Roc de les Molleres, at around 1,675 m, and the open area of Ras de Prat de la Cabrera (Pré de la Chèvre enclosure) appears.
Red and white markings for the GR® 36 and its variant
(3) At the crossroads with a track and three paths (elevation 1738), go straight ahead into the summer pasture, following the path that descends into the abandoned grazing area (May 2020).
Do not take the track and leave the GR®10, which heads left towards Les Cortalets.
The path that descends joins the track.
(4) At the signpost, follow this track to the right, north-east, for 600 m.
(5) At the fork, turn right and climb up into the grazing area. There is a signpost.
Follow theGR®36, leaving its variant to continue along the track. The path climbs a little.
(6) At the top of the path, there is an option to climb up to a viewpoint on the left and back down again.
(7) This unique viewpoint consists of a steel orientation table with the various clearly visible peaks welded and engraved onto it.
"By leaning against the metal sheet, you can see (or guess) the Refuge des Cortalets, due west in a pass."
Turn around and return to the previous fork.
(6) Continue to the left. From this point, the path descends steeply into the Bosc de Patriques (Patriques Wood). At the bottom of this fairly difficult descent, go through an iron gate, cross a small stream and join a small dead-end macadam road.
At this road, turn right towards the Los Masos car park (S/E).
