Lämmerenboden

The start and finish of this hike are at the Gemmi Bergstation. Take a return cable car ticket from Gemmi to Leukerbad.

(Winter route with no specific signposting).

(S/E) From the Gemmi top station, take the track on the right towards the former Berghotel Wildstrubel. Heading west, follow the track down to an altitude of 2,262 metres.

(1) Head back up towards the Lämmeren plateau. Walk to a small mountain hut.

(2) Take the track on the right, which runs past the foot of Lake Lämmeren (under the snow). Continue westwards to the start of the path to the Lämmerenhütte, accessible on snowshoes or touring skis.

(3) Continue along the groomed track, turning eastwards to return to the small unmanned refuge.

(2) Return to the Gemmi cable car via the reverse route of the outward journey to (S/E).

• The trail is accessible without snowshoes, but snow crampons are recommended.
• The winter route does not follow the summer path. The path is a track groomed by a snowcat.
  This route cannot therefore be used for a summer hike.
