Park in the car park in front of the town hall.
(S/E) Walk down along the river, cross the main road (D47) and continue to the bridge. Turn left at the bridge and follow the small tarmac road to the D27, which you will take to your right for 200 m (yellow and red markings of the GRP® Ronde du Canigou).
(1) Just before the small bridge, leave the road and turn left towards Col de Juell (yellow and white markings), following this gently ascending path. Reach the Vieux Col de Fillols and leave the GRP®.
(2) Head left for the steep, short climb; along the way, you’ll find mine waste and a small orri (shepherd’s shelter) by the path. Continue to the Col de Juell at the end of a final descent.
(3) At the crossroads, follow the sign for the “Route des Crêtes”. The rocky path climbs quite steeply, offering a fine view of the village of Vernet-les-Bains. A short distance further on, take a flight of steps with a handrail, marking the end of the climb.
(4) When you reach a small fork, ignore the steep path leading to Cogulló and follow the path on the left downhill towards Fillols until you reach a crossroads (signposted Fillols 0h30).
(5) Take the left-hand path signposted Col de Juell for approximately 700 m.
(6) At the Fillols sign on the left-hand side at the junction, turn right onto the path winding through a wood of chestnut and acacia trees and join the track.
(7) Turn left onto it and, after crossing a ford over the Ruisseau de Fillols, head down the tarmac road to the village to reach the finish point in front of the town hall (S/E).
