Circular loop starting from Fillols

A beautiful hike in the forest with many different species of trees. A ridge trail from one pass to another. Fairly varied terrain offering beautiful views of Canigou, Tres Estelles and Madrès. A visit to the beautifully restored orri (stone hut) at Coll de Tuja and Clot de Baladres.

Description of the walk

Park in the Fillols town hall car park located on Carrer de la Riu along the Ribera de Fillos.

(S/E) Head west down to Carrer de la Torre.

(1) Cross the bridge on the left and follow Carrer de la Torre to the road (D27) leading to Vernet-les-Bains.

(2) Turn right, walk carefully along the road in single file for 200 metres until you reach a path at the entrance to the bend: there is aGRP® ® Ronde du Canigou sign marked in red and yellow.

(3) Take this path opposite and continue to Coll Vell.

(4) Leave theGRP® here and turn left onto thePR® marked in yellow. Follow this ridge trail, pass Coll de la Truja and then reach Coll de Juell.

(5) Follow thePR® trail on the left along the north-east balcony. Ignore the trails on the left that lead back to Fillols until you reach a crossroads with several directions.

(6) A few metres further on, find a path to the left, take it, cross the Fillols river (sometimes difficult) and then join the Balatge (Balaig) track at a bend and some brown-painted water tanks.

(7) Go up to the right, leave a path on the right and pass in front of a spring. Continue uphill to reach a crossroads marked by a cairn and an information panel on the fragility of the forest.

(8) Descend to the left and follow a few hairpin bends to reach Clot del Baladre, ignoring the path on the right at thefirst spring. Reach asecond spring.

(9) Turn right to reach the large orri.

(10) Return to the previous crossroads.

(9) Continue to the right and after a short climb you will reach Coll de Milleres on a tarmac road.

(11) Walk along the edge of the campsite on your left and turn left onto theGRP® Ronde du Canigou. You will come to a crossroads with a path marked S.

(12) Take it on the left to overlook the road to the village. Take the street that goes up to the left and curves to the right to reach the Fillols town hall car park (S/E).

The hike took place during a heatwave, so we were looking for shade and we weren't disappointed. The entire route is through a well-lit forest with small trees and occasional beautiful views. Excellent! I fully intend to do it again soon with another group of friends.

Hello,
We went hiking in very hot weather.
It was a very pleasant hike, mostly through the forest.
The route is perfect, but unfortunately we didn't see the Grand Orri.
I recommend this very pleasant hike.

A really enjoyable hike with beautiful views of the Canigou massif. It has everything you need for a great time: magnificent scenery, shaded forest paths and water sources.
I did it with my husband and would do it again with our teenagers...

Hiking, very pleasant and easy for families with children to do in summer or spring, as there is a lot of walking in the forest. The signposting is very good and clearly marked. You can't go wrong.

Very beautiful hike with a tricky section crossing the stream (downhill then uphill); done with a 10-year-old child.
