The Roannay Valley – right bank

This walking route explores a large part of the area between the Roannay stream and the Vecquée ridge (Fagne de Malchamps), on the northern slope of the Roannay valley
It quickly leaves La Gleize to skirt the former Borgoumont sanatorium, continues towards the hamlets of Cour and Andrimont, and turns back upon reaching Chevrouheid.
The route rarely enters the woods at all. Very often it simply runs alongside them, offering numerous magnificent panoramic views of this wonderfully undulating region.
Switching between paths and tracks, and always halfway up the hillside, it leads to a stone’s throw from the Amblève.
One last climb and you arrive at the famous Tiger tank site and the ‘December 44’ museum on the small church square.
A huge thank you to our friend Paolo who put together this lovely route for us.

Notes

(Very) few benches along this route and no picnic areas to speak of.
A few shops in La Gleize: just a local grocery shop and a restaurant located on the edge of the N633.
Those who dislike tarmac won’t enjoy this walk very much. To reduce the tarmac: turn left at point (6) and head to point (7) (caution: path not maintained, condition unknown)

Worth a visit

The Décembre 44 museum on the square in La Gleize.
Coo, with its waterfall and tourist attractions, a few kilometres south of the route.
Spa, a spa town, to the north of the route.
