Description of the walk

Park at the side of the road leading to the hamlet of Coat Canton in Rosporden, very close to the roundabout.

(S/E) Head towards Coat Canton and, just at the bend, join the D24, cross it and take the small road immediately on the left.

(1) Cross the small bridge over the karstic cave and head left along the road. Continue to Boduon.

(2) Follow the main road as it turns left, then turn right to reach a junction with a sign pointing towards Kerambrunou on the right. Head towards this hamlet.

(3) Turn right to cross Kerambrunou and continue along the track, ignoring the first track on the left.

(4) First turn left then right onto the path that heads completely to the left. Continue until you reach the river (a difficult section after periods of rain, but you can climb up the embankment on the left to get past this) and cross it to continue straight ahead along the path. Arrive at Kerampicard.

(5) Take the short stretch of road on the left to reach Guilers. Follow the path to the right for about 200m.

(6) Take the small path on the right and continue straight on past Kerjariou.

(7) Turn onto the path that descends to the right and leads to the banks of the karstic cave.
Cross the Aven via the bridge and continue along the path which takes you alongside the Aven in the opposite direction, then continue up the path. Reach a T-junction.

(8) At this junction, turn right to cross the hamlet of Guerroué and, at the left-hand bend, take the gravel path leading to the lodge. Follow the path continuing to the left. After the right-hand bend, take the small path leading off to the left and continue until you reach a road leading to the D24.

(9) Follow it to the right with care and join the next road on the left, Route de Bonne Nouvelle.

(10) Take this road and head towards the junction with Chemin de Kerlijour.

(11) Turn right onto this road and follow the path that continues from it. Pass through the hamlet of Coat Aven and reach the junction with another road.

(12) Turn right onto this road and join theD765A.

(13) Turn right and follow it carefully. Reach the roundabout and the car park (S/E).

(7) About 100m before the bridge over the karstic cave, if you look up to your right, you may see a commemorative plaque marking the execution of a group of Resistance fighters, situated high up on a large rock.

Thank you for your comments; I have just amended the route to avoid private property.

20 April 2026 (morning): attempt to follow this route.
Unfortunately, between points 8 and 9 (Forven to Kerlijour), the path is largely on private land.
The farmer who owns the path was very angry with the cyclists and other walkers
who use this route.
This forced us to turn back and take a one-kilometre detour along a very busy county road.
Upon checking with the land registry, the path is indeed private.

Some sections are inaccessible and you have to take a detour to find your way back... a bit too much driving at the beginning. Otherwise, a lovely walk.

The route is magnificent from point 2 to point 8. Unfortunately, from point 8 onwards, there is a ‘PRIVATE ROAD’ sign and piles of earth blocking the way. You therefore have to walk alongside the D24 (which is very dangerous) as far as the Bonne Nouvelle chapel to rejoin the route further on.
After point 10, the path is blocked again (PRIVATE + rope) and you have to return to the starting point via the roundabout.
These two setbacks spoil the appeal of this route, which should have been superb....
Done on 5 October 2023.

The start of the walk means we have to walk along tarmac for quite a while, but after that it’s lovely. There’s just one slight hiccup at point 8, after crossing the D24, as there’s a ‘private road’ sign; as I didn’t meet the owner, I can’t say whether there’s an exemption for pedestrians.
