Start from the car park on Avenue Lowendal, which runs alongside the Cosson river in La Ferté-Saint-Aubin.
(S/E) Follow the Cosson on your left until you reach the D2020 departmental road, cross it opposite the château. Turn left to cross the Cosson.
(1) As soon as you cross the bridge over the Cosson, take the 'Promenade du Gué du Roi' path on the right, which runs alongside the river, following its winding course.
(2) Go through the barrier, then turn right onto the Route du Gué du Roi and cross the Cosson again.
(3) At the T-junction with Route de Vannes, turn left (a sign indicates Ménestreau 6km) to follow the Étang du By on your right, then walk south-east to a junction.
(4) Take the forest path on the right. A sign indicates 'Chemin pédestre' (footpath) then 'le Mazuray'. Pass this locality and its old hunting lodge on your right.
(5) At the crossroads, leave theGR® de Pays on your left and continue on the 'Chemin communal autorisé'. Ignore the private side roads. The lane turns left before meeting the D17.
(6) Take the path that runs alongside the D17 road on the right. A sign indicates 'La Ferté-Saint-Aubin 2.3km'. This path turns right to follow the Chemin de Beauvais, a wide, partially paved lane. Reach the circular path. The Chemin de Beauvais turns left, then crosses the Chemin des Chêneries to become the Rue de Beauvais.
(7) Go through the barrier. Rue de Beauvais serves the various housing estates, then turns left at Rue des 29 Fusillés. The cycle path runs alongside the cemetery.
(8) At the end of the cemetery, take Rue de Sully on the right. Leave Rue du Four Banal on your left. Rue de Sully heads north. Leave it on your left and continue north on Venelle du Poirier, which joins Rue Saint-Michel. Take this road on the left.
(9) You can make a small detour to see the Church of Saint-Michel, whose central nave dates from the 15th century. Rue Saint-Michel crosses the D2020 and becomes Rue Massena on the other side.
(10) Turn right onto Rue du Canal, leave Rue des Temples on your left, then turn left onto the 'bout à l'autre' path which crosses a wooded area. Turn right onto Rue du Temple as you approach the railway line. You can follow Rue du Temple to Cosson via the municipal swimming pool, or return to the car park at the start via Avenue Lowendal (S/E).
