Aizac, park in the village square, just at the pass of the same name (642 m).
(S/E) From the pass, take the D254 north-west and, 10 m further on, after the first house, turn right into the passageway between the houses and continue for about 200 m.
(1) Leave the small road on your right, follow it along the path above, then, at the hiking sign, turn left and climb steeply through the chestnut trees until you come to another path. Take it on the left and walk more or less along the contour line.
(2) You will come out onto a small road. Follow it to the right until you reach the hamlet of Chastagner-Gourd.
(3) At the exit of the hamlet, descend to the left (south) between the last houses to the D254; take it to the right and immediately leave it to the left for a path descending to the very pretty Gamarnés bridge (hiking signpost).
(4) Do not cross it, but follow the path to the right towards Labastide, a pretty path overlooking the Besorgues until you reach a bridge... timeless!
(5) At the hiking signpost, go up to the right, going around a house, join a small road and follow it due west. It turns into a track before reaching the D 254, which you follow to the right for 300 metres. Pass in front of the tennis courts, then over the bridge spanning the Besorgues. Immediately after this bridge, at the Calvary, climb the track on the left, which initially runs parallel to the road before turning north-west to reach the hamlet of Le Soulier.
(6) You will come out onto a small road; follow it to the left. 20 metres further on, at the fork, take the right-hand road going up towards Frétisse. At the hairpin bend, take the well-marked path on the left going down towards the valley. Follow the yellow markings which take you through Freyssenet to join the D 243.
(7) Follow this road uphill, to the right, heading north until you reach the Vialat hiking signpost.
(8) At this point, leave the main road as it turns sharply left and take the road heading north-east on the right. Cross the Besorgues river (again) and, immediately after the bridge, take the path climbing up on your left. It soon splits into two; stay on the left-hand path, which soon runs alongside the river.
Enjoy the peace and quiet of this wild, natural setting!
(9) As soon as the path leaves the water's edge, turn back. It becomes dangerous and access is prohibited. After a swim... or a nap... return by the same route to the Vialat hiking post.
(8) Continue along the hairpin bend for 10 metres, then take the path on the right until you reach the D354. Follow it to the left on a slight downhill slope.
(10) Just after a small bridge, take the path (signposted Pravers) climbing up to the right through the chestnut trees. It joins a track to follow on the left to the Col de Moucheyre. Lovely views over the Besorgues Valley to the east and the Bourges Valley to the west.
(11) At the pass, take the road down to the left and then immediately take the well-marked path to the right between the broom bushes: you are now on aGRP® (yellow and red markings). It joins a group of houses, then a small road.
(12) Take another path on the right before coming out onto the D243. Follow the road to the right to the village.
(13) Just after the church, turn left and then 50 metres further on, turn right to reach an intersection you passed on the way there.
(5) Climb the small road to the south, which then turns south-east and joins the D243, which you have already crossed several times. Take the path opposite, climbing under the chestnut trees, which leads you to the hamlet of Haute Blachère. You are still on the GRP®.
(14) At the "Haute Blachère" hiking signpost, leave theGRP® straight ahead and take the path on the left. Cross the hamlet of Blachère, then a road to descend steeply under the cover of fir trees, before joining the D243 (again!).
(15) Here, the markings are a little unclear for about 500 m! Take the departmental road on the right for 200 m, then after a left-hand bend, look for a well-marked path (just at the "sortie agglomération" sign) which descends to the left towards the river. The important thing is to head for the bridge (which is clearly visible from the road) because you have to cross the river.
(16) Once you have crossed the bridge, leave the road that climbs to Aizac on your right and shortly afterwards take the path on the right that climbs through the vegetation due east. Right at the foot of the hiking signpost, a small ferruginous water spring flows discreetly; a cup and/or glass have been left there by some charitable hikers... it's very good to drink!
A gentle climb of just under a kilometre brings you to a tarmac road (Mille Solles hiking signpost); take it to the left for 200 metres to return to the starting point at Col d'Aizac (S/E).
