Start from the car park located in the forest, slightly off the D132 road between Angervilliers and Bonnelles.
In the following description, signposting (where it exists) is only mentioned when it is really useful. Two other types of landmarks are mentioned: firstly, the Pays de Limours boundary markers, indicated by the letter B followed by a number, and secondly, the forest plot numbers painted on the trees.
(S/E) Follow the wide gravel path to the south-west that extends from the car park and head towards a clearly visible signpost.
(1) At the crossroads (B.80-20), take the first right (yellow marker), the Route de la Butte aux Loups, a sandy path that crosses a birch forest. Ignore a path on the right (not shown on the map, plot no. 8) and continue straight ahead. At the next fork, turn right (north) and pass between two trees marked with no. 5 to reach the next crossroads (B.80-21).
(2) Turn left (ignore the yellow arrow pointing to the right). Follow the path west, ignoring a path on the left and then one on the right. Then walk along a field on your right, staying inside the forest. At the corner of the forest (elevation 120), turn left (contrary to what the map indicates, there is no path leading off to the right across the fields). Ignore a path branching off to the right, pass a tree marked with the number 12 on your right and wind your way through the undergrowth.
(3) At a three-way junction (the central tree marked with the number 12 is not visible when you arrive), turn left and follow the yellow markings. Ignore a path on the left (not shown on the map) and climb gently with a stream on your right. Pass a pond on your right, then ignore a path branching off to the right and continue along the path, which has widened
(4). At the intersection with a small sandstone marker engraved with a II (probably a Roman numeral), ignore the yellow marker opposite and turn right onto the path that heads south into a fern-covered undergrowth. At the next junction (B.80-17), cross a wide forest track and continue straight ahead. Pass at the foot of the spectacular Gros Chêne oak tree on the left and continue to the next junction (B.80-16).
(5) Turn right at the edge of plot no. 20 (yellow marker). At the edge of plot no. 17, cross a path and continue straight ahead on a narrower path. After a few metres, at a T-junction (B.80-15), turn right.
(6) At the Carrefour aux Oeufs junction (B.80-14), take the first right, a wide, well-maintained forest track. Walk east-north-east, ignoring the paths branching off to the sides. Pass Borne 80-17 again and continue straight ahead. At the next crossroads, ignore the first path on the right and continue on the track that turns right towards Forges-les-Bains (B.80-19). Descend with a few bends. At the bottom, turn left, pass a shelter on your right and continue straight ahead to the signpost.
(1) Continue straight ahead on the wide path you took on the way up to reach the car park (S/E).
