Description of the walk

The starting point is located almost at the end of the Route Forestière de Chabrinel. From Die, take the D742 towards Romeyer. Cross the village and continue towards Les Planeaux. After the plateaus, continue to the forest road and then climb the hairpin bends to the car park.

(S/E) Take the Route Forestière du Chazeaux opposite, pass the barrier and then turn left at the hairpin bend. You will reach the crossroads at a place called Les Drayes.

(1) Leave the RF here and climb up the path on the right. Stay on this path, ignoring all the paths branching off to the right and left. After a few hairpin bends, you will reach Pas de Pillouse.

(2) Continue and you will soon reach the Col de Vire-Sac crossroads.

(3) Turn right to descend via a beautiful balcony path. Pass close to the Fontaine de Vire-Sac. Continue to reach the Charbonnières crossroads at the end of the descent.

(4) From here, turn left and tackle the difficult section with the climb up to the Col des Bachassons. Be careful, as when you reach the cliffs, the path becomes a little unclear and winds through the scree. Continue until you reach the Col des Bachassons.

(5) Follow the gently descending trail that slopes eastwards to join theGR®93.

(6) Take it on the left and follow the red and white markings. Cross the Jasse des Lansons, pass the Col du Pison and arrive at the Pison crossroads.

(7) Leave theGR® here and descend the path on the left. Walk alongside the Pison shelter and then reach the Lentillière crossroads.

(8) Turn right to continue the descent along a long winding path. Arrive at the RF crossroads at the Maison Forestière du Château crossroads.

(9) Turn left onto the forest road and then return to the initial Drayes crossroads you took on the way there.

(1) Retrace your steps to return to the car park on Route de Chabrinel (S/E).

When you reach the scree, do not continue straight ahead on the path through the scree, but climb immediately to the left, following the faint trail. It is easier.
A very beautiful hike with varied landscapes and beautiful views.

A pleasant and varied route, completed in 4 hours.
Steep sections on the way up (not for beginners) and on the way down (at the castle), but no difficulties.

A magnificent hike.
The entire route offers beautiful scenery.
I recommend setting off fairly early so you can enjoy it without suffering from the heat.
(I was alone, but including breaks, it took me 4 hours).

A few fallen trees on the path, particularly in the first section, but they can be crossed.
Bear in mind that the elevation gain is concentrated, particularly in the scree section and the steep descent in the penultimate kilometre.
Magnificent views at various points along the route.
