Park your car at the roundabout at Jasse de Cabane Longue, known locally as the Poêle à Frire.
(S/E) Altitude 1,512 m. The trail, which is very well marked (in yellow), heads east and crosses a stream. It climbs rapidly through a beautiful forest of beech and birch trees. Head generally south-east.
(1) Altitude 1,815 m. The trail emerges from the forest onto the Sarrat de la Llau, where the view opens up on both sides. The direction turns more sharply southward. You can clearly see the north face of the Dent, where, to the right of a large slab, you can make out the trail that leads to the summit.
(2) Altitude 1,960 m. You reach the small Col de Brasseil, where a sign indicates the direction of the Col de l'Egue to the south-east and the Dent to the south-south-west. It is impossible to go wrong: the north face of the Dent is straight ahead. All that remains is to climb!
There are no more markings, but the route is obvious. The slope is very steep, surrounded by rhododendrons and blueberries. You will sometimes need to use your hands to pull yourself up onto the large rocks, which form uneven but generally very stable steps. Be careful of a few wet, slippery sections. Just before the summit, bear left onto a rocky, stony slope.
You will reach the marker (2,222 m) at the summit of the Dent d'Orlu.
(3) Be careful on the descent from the Dent. You may need to use your climbing technique to get down. Return via the same route to the car park (S/E).
