Park in the small hairpin-bend car park before the village of Aulus-les-Bains on the road to the Col de Latrape.
(Start/Finish) From the hairpin bend, head south-east following the sign for the Waterfall d’Ars.
A fairly gentle stretch along the forest track with an elevation gain of around 200 m to the junction of the tracks.
(1) Continue straight ahead to a path junction where you join theGR®®10(red and white markings), which comes from Aulus-les-Bains on the left.
(2) Carry on straight ahead along theGR®®10. Further on, at the junction, turn left (signposted). The track gradually comes to an end and turns into a footpath just before the Pont d’Artigous.
(3) Cross the Rivière d’Ars via the bridge and continue along theGR®®10. Climb gradually through the woodland; the waterfall begins to come into view. Further on, you’ll reach a junction.
(4) Take theGR®®10to the left (or take the waterfall path straight ahead. If you choose this option, be extremely careful as the path is not well maintained, particularly as it can be slippery when the waterfall is flowing strongly).
After several hairpin bends, you’ll reach thesecond waterfall (the most impressive one) about a hundred metres further on.
(5) Take great care when the waterfall is flowing strongly
Take the route to the Ars footbridge, which is less than 1 km away. Thefirst part of the ascent is quite steep (beware of snowmelt, which can make this section difficult).
Thesecond section is gentler and on level ground, before descending a few metres to reach the Ars footbridge.
(6) Follow the path back in the opposite direction to the car park at Aulus-les-Bains to complete this fabulous discovery walk (S/E).
