Description of the walk

Park in front of the Tourist Office in La Bastide-Puylaurent.

(S/E) Walk down towards the mini-market and turn left onto the pavement. Turn right onto Place de la Gare and cross at the level crossing.
Walk up the street, turn right onto Chemin du Fraisse and reach a junction of paths at a hairpin bend.

(1) Take the left-hand path and begin an ascent ending at a junction of paths at the highest point.

(2) Continue straight ahead, open and close the gate properly. Continue downhill to reach the Ruisseau du Fraisse. Ford the stream. Begin a short climb, following the white track that runs alongside the sheep pens. Pass under the railway line and reach the junction of a wide track near the two houses.

(3) Turn right, walk between fields and the edge of the woods, and further on you’ll reach the railway line and a level crossing.

(4) Cross it, then make a half-circular loop to cross the railway line again. At the next junction, turn left onto the path that winds through the undergrowth, running parallel to the railway line. Return to the initial junction you passed on the way out.

(1) Return to the level crossing by turning left at the end of the street. Continue to Place de la Gare. Turn left, then cross in front of the mini-market and head to the Tourist Office car park (S/E).

A very varied hike with a variety of environments. The second ford has now been replaced by a footbridge. Mostly shaded, which is nice in the summer sun.

A lovely, easy circular walk with beautiful views; crossing the streams was a nice way to cool off. We didn’t see a soul, and an added bonus at this time of year… the flowering broom, the meadows, the daffodils – a lovely, fragrant walk.
