Park in the car park by the Beaucroissant tennis courts.
(S/E) Head towards the centre of Beaucroissant village. Turn left straight away and stay on the road for a while, just long enough to warm up your horse.
(1) Turn left towards the railway line, which you will need to cross. Take the road on the left and go under the road bridge. Once you’ve passed the farm, it’s time for your first gallop.
(2) Your canter ends at the first crossroads. Take the track on the left, then cross the railway line again. Ride alongside the riding school. At the exit of the riding school, follow the D519 to the right until you find yourself facing the path, then cross it at this point.
(3) On this path, you can alternate between a trot and a gallop depending on the terrain. Then take the road to the left and immediately turn right onto the path, where you can break into a short gallop until the next junction.
(4) This climb can be adapted to suit your horse’s fitness level: walk / trot / canter. Once at the top, head left. At the bottom of the short descent, it’s time for the best canter in Beaucroissant. Watch out for changes of foot and slippery grassy patches.
(5) End of the gallop. Turn right, then go straight on to the main track.
(6) Here you have a choice:
- either take the track on the left to cut the circular route and get back quicker,
- or, as this route does, head right, then right at the next junction, then right again for another gallop.
(7) You’ll reach the forest track. Follow it to the right and keep left at the next three junctions until you reach the road. Continue to keep left until the crossroads and turn onto the track on the left.
(8) Leave the track to take the path on your right and tackle the climb until the next path on the left.
(9) One of the best gallops in Beaucroissant. Watch out, however, for low-hanging branches, which may be covered in leaves depending on the season. Keep well to the right until you cross the marked path.
(10) Dismount and walk your horse down gently (steep, stony path). After the power lines, once you reach the bottom of the descent, remount and head right.
(11) Pass the first path on the right and take the second one. Once you have passed the power lines, set off on the final gallop of the ride. Stop galloping at the first junction. Take the track on the left and continue straight on until you reach the hunters’ hut. At the road, turn right and then immediately left to return to the car park (S/E).
