Start from the Saint-Blaise car park.
(S/E) With your back to the road, take the path leading uphill to the left, following the sign for the ‘circular forest trail of Castillon’, marked in yellow and yellow/red.
The path leads to the Saint-Blaise archaeological site on the right, then to Saint-Blaise Chapel on the left. Go through the gate and head along the track that goes round the site to the left.
(1) At the first junction, turn left, following the yellow markings and the circular ‘Forêt de Castillon’ route. 400 metres further on, at a T-junction, continue to the left and follow the wide path.
Ignore the first path on the left (not marked on the map) and take the next one on the left.
(2) When the yellow/red markings turn right, carry on straight ahead. The path curves in an S-shape and turns left 300 metres further on onto a track. Turn right twice to rejoin the path you left earlier.
(3) Continue to the left for almost 400m, then at the junction turn left, go 50m and turn left again. Pass the next path on the right; further on, join a track coming from the left and continue straight ahead. Enjoy the views over the Étang du Pourra.
(4) When you reach a track junction on an open area, ignore the two paths on the right and turn left. Once on the Chemin de Castillon, head left and walk alongside the riding centre.
(5) At the end of this, turn right and cross the car park. Go through the gate and continue along the track as it descends; it will lead to another gate.
(6) Ignore the signposting on the left and take the path on the right. From there, there are no further signposts, but you must continue along the path that runs alongside the Martigues Canal. Along the way, admire the Étang d’Engrenier and the Étang de Lavalduc.
After 2 kilometres along the canal, a path leads up to the right towards the car park at the start (S/E).
