L'Île d'Olonne au départ de Brem-sur-Mer en boucle

A very pleasant hike between Brem-sur-Mer and Île d'Olonne, which first follows the trails of the Forêt d'Olonne, then the Marais d'Olonne and finally the bocage of the hinterland.

⚠️ 13.08.2025: hike modified between 7 and 8, no access for bikes at 7 to reach the marshes.

A very beautiful mountain bike ride through the marshes. Once you reach the GR section, there are few people around and it is quiet and beautiful.
I requested a change to the route because you can no longer pass through the marsh between points 7 and 9; this area is now closed to bikes.

well done on the route, it's really varied and very pleasant, passing through marshes, wooded countryside, plains and towns. Be careful though during very rainy periods, as there are two sections that can flood!

otherwise, it's perfect

A very diverse route, starting from the ocean at Bretignolle, then through forest, peaceful marshland and finally woodland, really lovely. Thank you

The section crossing the salt marshes is remarkable: several kilometres of small paths criss-cross the salt fields. However, the section along the paths running alongside the fields was less enjoyable, especially as I had a hybrid bike and my wife had more difficulty with her electric bike, which was not suited to the bumpy paths. What's more, we did the circuit backwards by mistake, which made it impossible to use the detailed description, but it did allow us to turn a fairly steep hill into a descent. It's worth noting that there is a photo exhibition until early October on the Ile d'Olonne side, near a mill that is open to visitors.
