Description of the walk

From the lodge (S), return to the car park you crossed the day before and take theGR® on the left bank of the Guil, heading north then north-west.

(1) Cross the Guil again on the wide bridge opposite the Monta refuge.

(2) Cross the road and walk along the left side of the cemetery, which is the starting point ofthe GR®58. Continue north, first through the forest and then across the mountain pasture to reach the ridges, starting with Peyra Plata.

(3) Continue north-west, walk along the summit of Lauzière and reach the Crête de Gilly, which ends in a descent to the Col de Gilly or small pass of Gilly.

(4) Turn right to the 2000 metre mark, leaving the Bergerie des Pierres Ecrites on your right, and join one of theGR®58variants.

(5). Turn left onto the path, which is almost horizontal (sloping very slightly downwards). Shortly before the forest track, leave the variant that descends to Le Roux on your right and take theGR®58on your left. Follow the track, then leave it on your left at a bend to descend to Abriés.

In Abriés, cross the Bouchet stream and take the road on the right, then the second right to the Ancolie Bleue lodge (E).

There is a fountain where you can fill up your water bottles opposite the Monta refuge.
There are several lodges in Abriés; I recommend the Ancolie Bleue.

Worth a visit

The Peyra Plata and Gilly ridges offer remarkable views of the surrounding area. With maps in hand, you can see much of the route you have already covered.
In the distance, you can see the Ecrins and their glaciers, which are shrinking year by year. Closer by is the second highest peak in Queyras: Le Rochebrune. And finally, behind it, is the Tête du Pelvas.

Always be cautious and plan ahead when you're outdoors. Visorando and the author of this route cannot be held responsible for any accidents occurring on this route.
