Description of the walk

Park in the car park around the roundabout on Rue des Pommaries.

(S/E) Head towards the pétanque club, then turn left onto the wide footpath/cycle path that crosses Vignières-Pommaries Park (a former maize field). Continue straight on to the northern end of the park.

(1) When you reach the roundabout on Avenue des Carrés, cross the road at the pedestrian crossings (be careful, as vehicles do not always stop there). First turn right then left onto Allée Jean Monet. Go through the small roundabout and follow the footpath running alongside Allée Jean Monet on its right-hand side. Continue in this direction until you reach the next roundabout (Place de l’Abbaye).

(2) Carry on straight ahead, passing the Abbaye Museum of Contemporary Art on your right. Continue along the footpath until you reach Chemin du Jouly. Cross it and follow the footpath straight ahead until you reach Montée de Novel.

(3) Turn right onto the Montée de Novel, which (as its name suggests) will take you to the top of the town centre, near the town hall.

(4) Then turn right onto Rue Jean Mermoz, passing in front of Saint-Laurent Church. Walk alongside Parc Gabriel Fauré, which lies below on your right. At the next junction, carry straight on, leaving Rue des Hauts de Sainte-Anne on your left, and continue downhill to the roundabout on Avenue des Carrés. Cross the two lanes of the roundabout again (take care).

(1) Follow the wide path through Vignières-Pommaries Park back to the starting point (S/E).

A lovely little stroll through the town, with plenty of sections through tree-lined parks. I explored Annecy-le-Vieux, a charming village that has managed to retain its warm, traditional Haute-Savoie character. I started my walk from Albigny beach to enjoy a stroll along the lakeshore… After all, we are in Annecy .

You should park in the free Vignières-Pommeries underground car park on Avenue des Carrés. When you leave the car park, cross the road and carry straight on along Allée Jean Monet.

An interesting perspective, but I’d say that’s the only thing this walk has going for it… I’m rather disappointed.
