(S/E) From the car park, head south-east towards the hamlet and, after about 30 metres, take the first path on the right after the honey farm. This unmarked path skirts around the property and then veers off to the left. Continue along the path until you reach a car park followed by a crossroads.
(1) Cross it and continue in the same direction to find a paved track. Follow this track to the end, where it turns into a path. Don't miss the pig enclosure on the last property on the right.
The track climbs south-east and passes through the undergrowth to reach a clearing which you cross diagonally to join the path that descends slightly. Further on, you will find a steel bar acting as a barrier across the path.
(2) Go around it on the right, then do not go down towards the road opposite, but take the path on the right, which is still unmarked and not shown on the map.
At the next crossroads, turn left. The track descends towards the road (D12) and follows the road for about 250 metres (5 minutes).
(3) 50m before crossing a small valley, with the road visible as it bends to the left, you can choose between two routes.
You can make your own way and take a shortcut on the right, which is not very visible and not marked on the map, which climbs directly to the Col de la Couelle, or - and this is the route shown on the map - continue along the track that leads straight to the road. Then turn right and follow the road (D12) which leads to the Col de la Couelle 300m away.
(4) Cross the road and take the path on the left that climbs directly towards the ridge in a north-easterly direction (blue markings). Stay on the ridge, ignoring all the paths that branch off to the right. This ridge crossing is magnificent, offering superb views of Sainte-Victoire on the left and Sainte-Baume on the right.
Continue until you reach a three-way junction in a small wood about 40 minutes after the pass.
(5) Leave the path that descends to the left and turn right, then immediately left, following the blue markings.
This is a very short, easy scramble. Continue to the next junction.
(6) Turn right, then 20 metres further on, turn left and climb straight up to the Hermitage of Saint-Jean du Puy. Take a break in this charming, well-equipped spot (barbecue available) where you can admire the landscape, with an accessible watchtower and orientation table above you.
(7) Take theGR® trail that passes below the chapel and go past the entrance to the site and its magnificent arch.
(8) Head towards the car park on the right, cross it and continue north-west until you reach "La croix du Jubilé".
(9) Retrace your steps to rejoin the wide forest track heading west. Ignore all the paths branching off to the right and left and continue to the hunters' car park.
(10) Turn almost 180° to the right. Go down this wide track, turning left at each intersection and staying on the widest path. After a path on the left, the track heads north and ends at a wide fork in a clear area.
(11) Take the hairpin bend to the left and follow a wide path that curves several times before reaching the two Baboué bridges.
(12) Continue straight ahead to reach the hamlet of Kirbon and the road (D12).
Cross the road, descend slightly for 200m, then take the first path on the right, which you will follow straight ahead to the car park at the starting point (S/E).
