Park in the small car park by the cemetery and church in Chignin.
(S/E) Walk down Chemin des Bugnons towards Montvéran (the main town of Chignin). Once you reach the large farm and the local post office, turn right towards the centre of the valley via Rue des Coteaux du Chef-Lieu. Follow this road until you reach the crossroads at the entrance to the village, Place de la Fruitière. Continue for about 20 metres to the right.
(1) Turn left onto the residential street, Route des Cotes: do not take the road that leads to the main road. Walk along the vineyards and a few houses and continue straight ahead.
(2) At the first fork, turn right onto the winding Chemin de la Chapelle. Zigzag between the woods and vineyards until you reach the magnificent Clos Saint-Anthelme. After this residence, turn left onto the road climbing between the vineyards towards the towers of the Chignin archaeological site.
(3) Once you reach thefirst tower (the one you can see from the main road at the bottom of the valley on the way to Chambéry), continue through the vineyards to the left of the hill in front of you. After a few minutes, you will overlook the entrance to the village of Saint-Jeoire-Prieuré. Continue straight ahead through the vineyards. The views and the vineyards are superb. When you reach the road, turn right towards the hamlet of Le Villard.
(4) You are now in the centre of Villard, with its many wine cellars, a small café, and the village cross, wash house and bread oven. Take the road on the left towards Mont Ronjoux. Continue straight ahead, ignoring the roads on the right leading eastwards.
Walk along the track between the vineyards, with a short steep climb at the exit of the hamlet. Then continue straight ahead between the vineyards until you reach the plateau and woods on the hill of Mont Ronjoux. Walk through the meadows until you reach the summit.
(5) A few metres after the summit, take the path on the right. This forms a circular loop and returns to the vineyards of Chignin. Take the path downhill that runs alongside the woods and then turn sharply. Continue downhill until you reach the vineyards again, then head towards the hamlet in front of you. On your left, you will see the hamlet of La Boiserette (in the commune of Saint-Jeoire-Prieuré) and on your right, the roads leading back to the village church. Walk until you reach the hamlet of Montlevin.
(6) Cross this part of the hamlet, which is just as pretty as Le Villard, then head towards the other hamlet opposite. To avoid walking along the tarmac road, take a track between the vineyards (route map). Go straight ahead between the vineyards, then turn right at the small wood to reach the houses of the hamlet of Le Viviers.
(7) Viviers also has wine merchants and all the attributes of a village in the foothills of Savoie. Cross it towards the church tower. Continue straight ahead until you reach it, then cross the pretty cemetery to reach the Chignin car park (S/E).
