Description of the route

Île Tudy
Park in one of the many car parks along the "Grande Plage" (that's its name) on Île Tudy (preferably the one on Rue des Chardons Bleus, just opposite the return route).

(S/E) Take theGR®34Blanc et Rouge marked trail along the beach, follow the trail behind the dune, heading north-west.

(1) Walk along Teven beach and then Kermor beach.

(2) At the car park at the end of the beach, leave the seafront via Rue de la Plage, turn right into the second street, Rue de Kerhuel, which joins Rue du Phare.

(3) Turn left to reach Sainte-Marine.

Sainte-Marine

At the entrance, continue along Rue du Phare, leaving theGR®34on your right. Follow the signs for "Vélo jaune" (yellow bike), turn right onto Rue du Bac and you will arrive at the port. Turn left towards the Abri du Pêcheur (fisherman's shelter) (museum)

(4). Go up the small alley to the left of the fishermen's shelter, then first turn right then left. Go through the roundabout and head towards Bénodet (Rue de l'Odet) towards the D44.

(5) At the roundabout, take the cycle path on the right, still heading towards Bénodet.

Wood

(6) Before the Pont de Cornouaille bridge, take the small path on the right and turn left to pass under the bridge. Once you have passed the bridge, go up about 50 metres to take the forest path on the right.
Follow this path through the forest (and the "Vélo Jaune" sign) all the way along the Odet. The signs are visible, but keep your eyes peeled before each intersection.

(7) Don't hesitate to stop and admire the view. Continue along the path through the woods.

(8). When you leave the forest, once you have passed some charming guest rooms in a pretty Breton farmhouse, you will have arrived in Combrit.

Combrit

From there, continue along the road. Once you see the church, turn right towards the centre of Combrit.
After a small roundabout, turn left towards "La Clarté" via Rue de Croas Ver.

(9) Go through a second, slightly larger roundabout (D44) and continue straight ahead (Rue du Stade).

Return

(10) Pass in front of the Chapelle de la Clarté and continue straight ahead until you reach the D144.

(11) There, turn left onto the cycle path and continue for about 300 m, then cross towards the hamlet of TyRhu. Continue straight ahead for about 1 km, then turn right, following the "Vélo jaune" sign between the tarmac road and the dirt track to the Île Tudy dyke.

(12) Cross the dyke (approximately 500 m) and continue to the main road, then turn right for approximately 200 m to turn left onto Rue des Chardons Bleus and return to the car park at the start (S/E).

Notes

A mountain bike or hybrid bike is required. Bring enough to drink, especially if it is hot. There are quite a few hills!

Worth a visit

In summer, the ideal way to finish is with a swim at the beach! :-) (1) or (2)

Lack of signposting for points 8 to 10, starting from St Venec Chapel. I have already done this route twice, without the Visorando GPS tracker, and the end ended up on the road due to a lack of signposting. What a lovely surprise on 25/8/2024 to discover this beautiful end to the route along the dyke.

Mountain bike route with electric assistance, starting at around 9:00 a.m. It's a very beautiful route (woods, dike, town, beach, etc.). I took the opportunity to visit Ile Tudy.

A magnificent cycle ride! A must in the region. Choose a day with good weather to enjoy the beach at Sainte Marine.

Hello,
This is a cycle route identified on Visorando, but we did part of it on foot between Sainte Marine and Île Tudy.
For the return journey, we wanted to use a pink and purple route shown on the IGN map downloaded from your website.
It's a bit confusing because it's not actually a route but a nature reserve boundary... at first glance, you might think it's an alternative route.
Otherwise, the weather was fine and we enjoyed our walks, with Visorando of course.
Best regards
R Le Roux
