The starting point for this walk/hike is the car park in the centre of the village of Corneilla-la-Rivière... This makes it easy to park. However, it is also possible to start at the other end of the village, on Chemin d'Estagel.
(S/E) Leave the car park and head towards the church. Take Rue de l'Église on the right and at the end, follow the Route Natrionale on the right. Turn left onto Chemin d'Estagel and join the marked "Campeils" trail by cutting across a vineyard path at the edge of the village...
(1) It is located on your left, just before a small bridge. Follow the Grand Émissaire du Godall stream.
(2) Once you reach the road, turn right and continue until you reach an intersection.
(3) Take the left-hand lane and continue. Pass under two high-voltage power lines. Ignore the first path on the left and take the second one.
(4) At the end of the path, turn right. There are then two path intersections: at the first, turn left, pass close to the entrance to an old mine, then at the second, turn right. Now begin the climb to Castell de Força Réal... This is a brisk climb of about 20 minutes, always following the marked path on the left. Halfway up, cross the Chemin des Oris, a wider dirt track.
(5) You will arrive near the fire brigade observation post and the relay antenna. The rest of the path is further down. Walk back along the road, leaving the large car park, and follow the path 100 metres further down on the right. There is a series of descents and gentle climbs. Keep following the path furthest to the right for 3 to 4 kilometres until you reach a tarmac crossroads.
(6) Take the first right and head back towards Corneilla, walking alongside vineyards and heath. After a final short climb, take the dirt track on the left 300 m further down, leading towards the vineyards...
(7) At the next crossroads near the huge EDF pylons, take the left-hand lane and then, after 2 to 3 km, take the right-hand path until you reach the Chemin d'Estagel...
(8) Descend 500 m along the road until you reach the fork in the road from the outward journey.
(1) Turn left. Follow the path along the ravine and cross it as soon as you find a bridge to reach the opposite bank. Continue in the same direction for 500 metres.
(9) Turn right onto the path leading to the "Las Famades" housing estate. At the entrance to the estate, turn left, then right at the stop sign. When you reach the entrance to the village, in front of the cemetery, continue for 100 m and turn left to return to the housing estate leading to the "Clave Verde" car park (S/E).
