Hermigua - From Santa Catalina beach to La Caleta beach

Hermigua is a village that stretches along the Monteforte barranco. Nestling in a ravine as far as the eye can see, it ends at Santa Catalina beach.
Our hike will take us from Santa Catalina beach to La Caleta beach.

Description of the walk

_Start:_Follow the seafront along the beach and turn right to park in front of the bar or Casita Monica on Carretera Playa.
Go up Calle Santa Catalina. Take the main street to the right, cross the first crossroads and then turn right (GR®132
markings).

(S/E) Take the path on the left before the houses and continue.

(2) Turn right into the wooded area and continue along this path until you reach the road.

(3) Cross the road and take the path opposite. The latter cuts a hairpin bend in the road, which you will find again a little further down.

(4) Follow the road downhill to the right.

(5) At a 90° bend to the right, leave the road and follow a track opposite, which cuts through a yaw. Rejoin the road and descend to the left as far as the Caleta parking lot.

(6) At the parking lot, take the path on the left down to the beach. There's a bar-restaurant for refreshments. Tables are available for picnics. In fine weather, swimming is possible, but beware: the beach is dangerous.

Return by the same route in the opposite direction.

Hike completed in November under beautiful sunshine, starting at 9am. The most difficult part (steep climb up the ravine) was done in the shade, which was much appreciated. Magnificent view from the highest point when crossing the road. On the descent to Caleta beach, a shortcut is marked between two bends in the road, in the lower section. This path looks very dangerous (risk of falling into the ravine) and I decided not to take it. Seeing no point in walking along the road, I turned back without reaching Caleta beach.

carried out at the beginning of March
Magnificent La Caleta beach completely deserted (March?)
Carried out after heavy rain, we stayed on the road to go down to La Caleta beach.
The path was too dangerous.

The 2 beaches are made up of large pebbles. As a keen swimmer, I refrained from swimming because of the strength of the waves and the difficulty of getting comfortable in the water due to the pebbles. A pleasant picnic on the beach at La Caleta. There are even a few straw huts for shade.

Hello Juanyves,
I find your analysis very peculiar.
Reliability of the description and the average route: you don't comment on the problems you encountered.
Just because we've been living in this lovely area for 30 years, and therefore know it well, doesn't mean that this hike, which we really enjoyed, isn't nice.

It's a shame to make this kind of comment, which does nothing but advertise your site.

Bonne continuation

I've lived above La Caleta beach for 30 years. All the walks from La Caleta Beach are 100 times more interesting, with many variations to suit all tastes and levels. I invite you to have a look at the page I've created for all the walks in La Gomera, with kml/gpx files, information on distances, gradients and topos. Thank you Visorando, a great site to recommend.
