Halford, Idlicote and Fullready circular

This walk is a mixture of roads and footpaths and starts in Halford. Parking is available on the road CV36 5BN. Access via some buses is possible. If using the Halford Bridge Hotel for food Tel: 01789 748217.

(S) Start by facing the hotel and walk to the right about 100 metres. Turn right down Idlicote road and continue for about 1.2 kilometres. At the T junction, carry straight on on the footpath with the farm on your right. Continue for about 700 metres.

(1) After crossing the field boundary, bear 45% left descending towards the wood. Cross over the footbridge, climbing through wood for about 1 kilometre, exit with barns on your right. After the barns take the left fork in the footpath, diagonally across the field, exiting the field in the far corner. Turn right and continue to climb up Idlicote Hill, crossing the driveway and eventually reaching the road in Idlicote. Turn left and pass the village pond on your right.
If time permits, use seating to relax by the pond. This pond is at the top of the hill and is fed from underground. (Have been here in freezing conditions, and the centre of the pond is ice-free.)

(2) Turn left by the pond and walk down Halford Road. After about 800 metres, turn right onto a minor road just before the bend. Continue down the road for 400 metres, looking for a footpath on your left. Take the footpath which descends, crossing the footbridge to climb up to the village of Fulready, just over 1.5 kilometres.

(3) On reaching the road in Fulready, turn left and as the road bears to the right, exit over the stile straight ahead and turn immediately left to go around the field clockwise. After 200 metres, exit the field, turn right following the footpath first to the corner after 400 metres, then left and continue in a straight line for about 600 metres to reach the corner of the wood.

(4) At the corner of the wood, take the footpath into the wood. After exiting the wood, continue straight across open area to reach the road after about 800 metres.

(5) Exiting the footpath onto the road, turn right for a very short distance. Turn right into the field and proceed up the field border on your left. Exit the field at the top left and continue in the same direction for about 1 kilometre, keeping the large property on your right. You eventually reach the driveway.

(6) At the driveway, turn left to follow it down to the main road, Fosse Way, approximately 1 kilometre. Turn left for about 600 metres and return to Halford and the car.(S/E)
