Lovely walk from the quiet village of Darlingscott, firstly on quiet roads and then on tracks, with stunning scenery. Onto field paths to Streeton-on-Fosse, return via field paths.
Start: Park carefully near the crossroads in Dalingscott.
(S/E) Take the road west from the crossroads. After 400 metres at the junction, take the right fork. After 600 metres, turn left at the next road. Look out for a haycart on the right.
Take time out to read about the wagon on your right, before proceeding 500 metres to the road T junction.
(1) Turn left at the T junction, then proceed along the road for nearly 1.6km.
(2) As the road bears right, turn left opposite the cottage, along the track. After 150 metres turn right onto the footpath. After about 600 metres reach a T junction.
(3) At the T junction turn right and shortly left to walk by Compton Scorpion Manor. After about 1km reach a road.
Cross the road and take the footpath opposite through padocks.
(4) Reaching a footpath T junction turn left and follow the path round buildings. After about 500metres turn left descending across fields. After about 1.3km reach the road through the village hall car park. (The Plough pub is 50 metres to your right)
(5) Turn left and continue along the road for 200 metres to a footpath on the left.
From the road, turn on the footpath for about 200 metres to a footpath junction.
(6) At this footpath junction there are three exits. Take the one nearly straight on. Walk straight across fields for about 1.3km to reach a road.
(7) Turn left and along the road for about 100 metres and turn right onto the footpath. Follow it for about 1.6km.
(8)
Note: There is a bridge over the brook, but I suggest you avoid it since there are missing pieces and it looks rotten.
Stay on the side you are on and continue up the field to the right towards the farm and reach the road with a field gate.
Turn left, follow the road for about 800 metres to reach the start and finish crossroads.(S/E)
