Departure from the town hall square in Saint-Épain.
(S/E) Opposite the town hall, turn left and cross the village. Discover the church, right next to a fortified gate and the Hôtel de la Prévôté.
(1) After the left-hand bend on the D57, turn left onto the road running alongside La Manse. Continue along the path to discover the woods and meadows.
(2) At the end of the path, turn left, cross the bridge and follow the road (D210) to the right. Caution! The road is a little dangerous and winding. Discover the Moulin des Roches, which dates back to the 15th century.
(3) At the crossroads, turn left towards the Caves Furettes, troglodyte dwellings. In the distance, discover the Besnault Viaduct, which dates back to 1852.
(4) At the hamlet of La Milletière, turn left onto the road and continue along a slightly undulating plateau. When the road turns 90° to the left, continue straight ahead and join a new road.
(5) Turn right, passing in front of the Porte Neuve, the southern gate of the Château de Montgoger.
(6) At the junction with the road and two paths, take the path on the left and walk along the Montgoger National Forest. At the T-junction, turn left onto the road and reach the Porte Sainte-Catherine gate of the château.
(7) At the Porte Sainte-Catherine, you can take a stroll in the park. Then continue along the road at the edge of the forest until you reach the end.
(8) Take the path on the left, pass by a beautiful renovated farmhouse and join a road at a hairpin bend.
(9) Turn left and pass the ruins of Montgoger Castle, which dates back to the 11th century and was destroyed by two fires in 1883 and 1943. Be careful! There is some traffic. Follow the road to Saint-Épain.
(10) At the entrance to the village, turn right and a few metres further on, turn right again. When you reach the square, admire the Lavoir des Deneux (S/E).
